Me, wife, 2 little girls. 3 and 1.

Me...love bike...love Pisgah..love trails 15 minutes from my house in every direction.
If I were to interview for the position in Knoxville...which has a huge paycheck...why would I actually live there?

(And yes, Ben..I know your cooking is up there near #3 or so)....

My knowledge of Knoxville is as follows:
hot
flat
crowded
cluttered
no Pisgah
no mountains
Windrock (don't get me wrong...can only get away for shuttles every so often).

Or Hotlanta...Once it breaks 90 here - forget it. The humidity will kill faster than anything.

My next door neighboor just got a job in Knoxville and will be moving out within the next week... They mentioned a house on the very outskirts of the city to avoid the crowd...

Hot, yes it is the Southeast.
Flat, No way. They have hills everywhere.
Crowded. Last Thrusday afternoon it took me an hour to move 5 miles in Asheville.:twitch:
No Pisgah. Can't argue with that, but they have some fun trail riding with rolling hills.
No mountains, There are mountains all around Knoxville.
Windrock. Check plus.

Windrock. Check plus.

I'd have to make that a Check plus plus plus............

I've thought of moving to that area for Windrock alone!

Throw in some killer DJ's and 4X track at Big Foot...........and I've heard there is good trailriding in the area..........you can't lose as far as riding is concerned!

Gotta throw in another "check plus" for Captain Tom's BBQ........I'll save my bannana pudding fantasy story for another time!

Good luck with your decisions Butch...........

Its ok Dave that you want to dive in a Pool full of Banana Pudding!!!  Personally I think it would be funny as H!! to watch.

Announcers:
"Here goes Dave for his first attempt at a 1 and a Half off the low dive into a pool of Banana Pudding. Gee Bob, this has never been done before... Here he goes.......... He's done it!!!!! :clapping: As Dave’s legs are dangling up in the air as the rest of his body is under Banana Pudding. :disgust1: Hey Bob do you still want to eat Banana Pudding after seeing a Hairy man like Dave dive into it? Not really!!!!"

Its ok Bro I had to do that one.

okay butch i know windrock is well absolutly amazing, but is moving to knoxville worth the pay, headache of moving, and just to shred windrock. i mean joey and the guys up there have done a killer job but the same thing over and over man would kinda get old. although your ridding would deffinatly bennifit from being a local.

I'll agree with this man and add my take as a transpant to Knoxville-

-cheap housing everywhere
-there is a bike scene.....a strange one overall, but still good people to ride with.
-good trails in town and options not too far out
(no, you don't have the options like pisgah, but there is enough to keep a trail rider content)
-its really not that crowed, just I40 at 5:00 seems that way (visit N.Va sometime to see what I mean)
-less trustafarians.....but more pink polo shirt good-ole'-boys
-southern girls in short skirts and sundresses

and while we're talkin swine, FATS in north knoxville is another place to hit up.

It is a different scene and culture and it took me a while to get comfortable here. I hated it for awhile. Then I found good people and fun stuff to do and its really not a bad town. I doubt this is where I'll die, but I don't think there are as many drawbacks as you may think.

Just because I don't want you guys to know where they are doesn't mean they're all illegal. Maybe I'll get permission then I'll post a mapquest to it on ridemonkey so everyone in the region can come hack it up on my trails.

By the way....half the trails and ALL of the stunts/jumps in wilsons are illegal...doesn't seem to stop anyone does it?

Forgive me....I'll no longer make any attempts to protect the trails you ride. You'll understand why I act this way one day, when something good you love to ride is taken away from you.

Yeah thats right, you are like Sam Hill fast, right? I forgot we had "pro racers", riding with us that day. I guess thats why I dont wanna ride with ya, your just to fast for me. And how exactly does any of this sh!t you posted here protect the trails "I" ride?

Damn that one hurt....I should probably just pack my bags and get butch to adopt me and take me to knoxville.

As for the trails. Some of the trails you ride (I know you ride them because I've ridden them with you, not to mention you probably know some of the trails that I love to ride) are unsigned, unmarked, and undocumented. Now, logic and experience would tell me that when trails like that get plastered all over public forums, it attracts attention, and things can get shut down. After all, this whole debate is because I jokingly said I would take over the duty of shuttle police. Personally, I think the less people that know about trails like that, the better. If you don't feel that way, that's fine...I can't stop you, I don't own the trails.

Maybe you didnt see the edited post, but I still wanna know how you are "protecting the trails I ride? You just keep riding your "secret trails", acting like your some focking hero to the NC MTB trail system and I will continue to ride what I want, and we wont ever have to deal with each other again. And what the fock are you talking about, trails being plastered on public forums? In the past the trails we had posted are trails that have been riden for a long time, and I pretty much ride with the same people every time I ride. Its not like we are guiding tours of the Wilsons Creek area. You can stop with that argument cause nothing posted on this site is going to close down any of those trails we ride. Its funny that the reason I stopped posting on here is cause I was sick of reading some of the whiney ass **** on here, and stupid attitudes, and you are the same reason I am now posting more on here than Ive posted in the past 6 months. Im done with this, maybe youll see me out riding one day and if you feel the need we can discuss it. But most likely not cause apparently you are part of some secret trail system that no one knows about.

For real. I got a chopper ride to my secret bunker filled with tools, then I strangled some security guards and dropped in on 3 runs on my top secret DH mecca. I did all of this wearing a ninja suit.

ahhhh....being the heartbeat of the mtb scene in the south sure is hard work.

I'm just amazed that 12 years into mountain biking the same hatred still exists from "riders" for "racer boys". I mean, just because a group of guys digs pinning it as fast as they can down the mountain, no matter if there is a clock or not, until there heart is in their ears and their tongue in their lungs...somehow gets me and anybody who pushes their limits of speed and physical capacity....hated on?

JohnBoy...take a chill pill. You're lashing out for gods sake in a thread about me possibly moving to Knoxville. Take it to PM's.

FYI to those who could care less... me...Butch...Bizutch...and Necker off Da Drop...worked on the trail together yesterday. Hatfields and McCoy's are joined in blood by the trails!!! :D

Here's the really neat part...he had a skid lid and minimal pads...I had body armor and a full face. We were on the race course at Sugar...both having a blast, bull****ing and piling up rocks together. Now I'm gettin' all teary eyed....:disgust:

I am only going to lay down one turd in this toilet of a thread, but what I find funny when you guys argue on here is that I know and ride with every single one of you.
And to be honest, I like every one of you as well.
I can guarantee if you guys rode more together, you would be one big happy family. The family may smell funny, but you would be happy none the less.
But hey, who I am to get in the way of the same 3 arguments we get to enjoy in The South forum every month.:twitch:
