i gota 2005 sherman spv evolve firefly plus. i was wondering if there are any mods or anything that i should perform before installing it on my bike. i was thinking about getting the enduro seal and doing oil. but recommendations are cool thanks.

btw the enduro seals suck pretty much with any fork. other than that just replace the oil like you said. its a pretty good fork if you like spv (though it seems like not many do) but+ i do know that manitou makes a conversion for the fork to make it tpc+ which everyone seems to like

I run a Breakout + that has been reported. It completely changed the feel of the fork for the better. The mod is similar to the (d)evolve mod where you remove a ported cap in the system effectively disabling the SPV, only the ports were just made bigger, not removed completely.
Do a bit of searching for spv devolve and you will find more info.

I de-evolved my 05 Slider and it feels night and day different than it did before. Everyone who touches the bike that it is on asks me how I got the fork so plush.
I would say do the SPV de-evolve trick, you can find a sticky on how to do it on the MTBR suspension forum, its super easy and totally reversible. When you do this mod, the air pressure basically becomes your compression adjustment, I run mine at 45psi.
Also try running a little lighter weight oil, i mixed 5wt and 7.5wt in equal parts on mine. Also for the 16cc of oil that goes into the lowers, I used 10w30 motor oil, its a little thicker and seems to coat everything a little better as well as not seeping out of the bottom of the legs like suspension oil seems to on the Shermans.
I also used Judy butter on the foam wipers in the seals, It causes the fork to spew some oil out onto the stantions for the first couple rides, but has gotten rid of the stiction that was present.
With all these tricks, I have gone from a fork that I absolutely hated to one I can live with, it kind of feels like an old Boxxer, but still is nowhere near my 888rc2x.
Dont bother with the enduro seals, unless your's are dried out or thrashed.

Mod is only for TPC, from what Manitou informed me. Anyway, it seems that you can devolve the SPV or replace it with a shim stack. I ended up selling my Firefly plus and getting a Travis.

Manitou's manuals suck. Use them only as a secondary reference, backed up by real world experience from folks on this forum. :thumb:
