cables don't make a difference, housing will. linear feels awesome, but it might bust on you. coiled feels ok, but it's safe.

i used to use these cool teflon coated ones back when i had mechs and they smooted it out well and never broke or stretched one

Teflon cables can't hurt.

The best results I've ever had with disc mechs is when running full length cables and lubing the snot out of the housing before putting them on. Take a bottle of high end lube and squirt away until there's lube coming out the other end. Makes a huge difference in power and modulation. If the levers are good too, they should feel close to hydros. Only use cable housing with the plastic liner.

You can run straight housing, but the downside is that you must also run thinner cables to fit. Coiled housing works fine as long as you don't have excessive amounts of cable looping out everywhere.

I've run jagwires and generics with bb7s and the jagwires are much better.

cable type makes a HUGE difference.
Why anyone would think it means squat and then post it....meh...hamfist.

i used to use teflon coated cabvles as they move sweetly through the housing but after 4 years I switched to the heavy duty shimano cables. MONSTER difference with a thicker cable. I say maybe a 20% increase in power.
I change my housing every year as it rerally doesn't matter what type as they all go bad after a year in the element so I use shimano heavy duty housing.[xtr]
Yopu can use power lines, goodrich and flat jackets but to me that's a waste of dough.
hope it helps as i have been using avids for 6 years now.
The best set up for a bb7 includes juicy rotors.

Stainless cable with Jagwire braided housing.
Go fully housed too as it keeps the crud out much better than having exposed cable showing. It does make a difference.
You can get a good deal on it at www.gravityworxracing.com

i use solid housing everywhere now....on all the gear and brake stuff.
