I need some help looking for a new bike. Not looking to buy a new one. I want something super fun to ride and bomb proof for jumps. I have been try'n to do some research on here. So new to the sport i don't know what are good deals or are not. I noticed people have been loving the Santa Cruz VPfree, V10, Bullit and Specialized SX trail, BigHit.
I really like the look of the BigHit. Everyone that has one that i have read about seems to like them. Is there any difference in the year models back to 03' to recent? How much is to much for a good used one?
I need some good pointers on prices I guess or maybe some kinda point in the right direction. Maybe some help deciding on a different bike other than the BigHit.
Thanks,
Joel

The BigHit changed in a major way recently. The older models ran exclusively with a 24" rear wheel. I think it s a decent bike really, especially the newer ones. I see lots of them all around the Shore. A V10 is not really a jump bike, so I would not really bother with that one. A VPFree is a nice design (even if there are a lot of pivots to maintain). Figure out where and how you are riding (mostly trail, drops, stunts, pure DH or what?) and go from there.
Take a look at stuff by Iron Horse, Transition, Kona, even some of the Norcos can be quite nice (I love the 2005 Shore frame for some reason).

I got a friend with an 05 big-hit and a dual crown 888 who loves his bike, especially going DH, but he is also into jumping and Free-Riding and he has no complaints.
He says that the bike is at its best when going DH,.
Hopefully this helps

you should look into a transition dirtbag. they are bombproof and the price is reasonable.

yeah i second that, the Dirtbag is a super bike for everything, and bombproof it is for sure.

Pretty much anything from Transition is worth looking at. I think the Preston is a great bike.

b-rocket is a sick bike, but i believe the extra 1.5 inches of travel is worth it, plus they are the same weight, so you would just get less travel and shorter chain stays. im about the same weight, and i love my dirtbag.

well, not to spam here, but i have a near-mint big hit comp from 2002 that's sitting in my garage. bought it at the end of 2002 summer, didn't ride it during the year, then graduated from highschool in summer 03 and didn't take it to college. it's been sitting in my garage for 4 years. i'm building up a new ride right now and would be willing to part with it pretty cheaply if you're interested. pm me or somethin
