How come as soon as I switched over to racing dh/ds, they quit making the dual slalom course there. That seemed so cool when I was racing xc there...
Have fun y'all, turkey chute was running good at the Icycle..

Butch, do you know of any other good riding for Sunday?
My friend and I are thinking about going to Tsali to ride xc bikes, but if you know of other good dh runs in the area, that could be a lot of fun.

How did the race go?
Good times.
Actually for me it was a great time, because I was back on the bike again. The dirt was all hero traction so it made for a fun day.

Not good for me. On my last two practice runs I found out just how bad my rear freehub has gotten. It caused the chain to get real slack and suck into the tire and fall off the front chainring so I couldn't shift into the smaller half of cogs during my race runs. So that sucked and I didn't feel very fast on the climbs so I probably lost a lot of time there.
On top of all that, I finally decided to race with dh shorts instead of just lycra and during the road section, I stood up to sprint and then all of a sudden the shorts caught the top of my stanchion tube that was sticking above the upper crown and down I went for a good slide on the pavement. The rest of the run felt pretty good considering my rear freehub issues until the bridge at the very end where the same thing happened with my shorts.
I'm going to hem them up an inch or two and get some good riding in before Snowshoe to make sure they don't get hung up again. If they do I'll just have to go back to racing with some real bike shorts.

my only complaint was I managed to wreck twice and my wreck total in the 10 years of racing that course was ZERO. :D
Seriously though...the wind in my hair is worth it every time. My only complaint was that the "fauna" on the trail was deep!!! Every run I was pulling fern and small oak out of my brake levers.
