Any one riding these? Just got some in the shop, and as far as magazine reviews go, they are the lightest freeride-ish wheelset out there. Able to take a beating and still super light.

I've got them on my Slayer SXC and love them. Biggest drops I've taken have been about 3-4 feet, also I've ridden it on the Shore (none of the super gnarly trails) and in Whistler last weekend in the valley and for some more mellow park runs. They're definitely solid without a huge weight hit, and while some people have said they feel a bit stiff at first and take some getting used to I didn't notice that.

What's the weight on the SX's? I just ordered a set of Easton Havoc's to replace my Deemax because those are a bit overkill for where I live now.

I know they can case the (log) lip of an 8 x 20 road gap thingy and live......pretty impressive
A buddy of mine has some and has uh......tested them.

Ive got some on my SX and have given them a lot of abuse on jumps, rocks and roots. I spent a day downhilling with a 2.0 Larsen TT on the rear and they came back no different. Ive had them a year (got them 2nd hand) and they are straight and round. FYI I weigh 168#.
If I was buying a wheelset today it would either be the new XMax SX's or Easton Havocs.

Mavic's site lists 1950grams for the set
I've considered the c-max sx's for my sxt for a while now, but haven't pulled the trigger......I've kept on waiting to here what others were experiencing.... be nice to shave some weight from my 729's.... sorry no help here...
my buddy has a pair on his 6.6.
The wheels are very stiff and are holding up great for all around thrashing.
Hey Punkassean- how are those Havocs? I'm running teh Bontrager Rhythms, but maybe a couple hundred grams lighter wouldn't hurt. What do those come in at on the official Easton scale?

What's up Nick! I haven't mounted the Havoc's yet 'cause I'm waiting on Hutchinson Pirhana 2.3's and Stans strips. I haven't weighed them yet either but the claimed weight is 1875. I will try to verify that here really soon and let you know.
As far the strength/stiffness they're awesome, a bunch of guys here have them already and love them. Instense is specc'ing them on the Socom as a light DH race wheelset so that's a good sign too.
You married yet?! How's AZ life treating you guys?

WOW! Glad we're planning on shuttleing ourselves! Oh well, we'll just have to ride some other time homeboy!
Dooood, I just got all new XTR gruppo, Havoc wheels, 08 36 Float and some other fresh jibs for the Enduro. I think it'll be about 32lbs once I get everything on the bike!

i've heard good stuff about the crossmax sx's, bike did a review a couple issues ago and they loved them for freeride/DH type stuff. i'd get them on my next bike, except building custom wheels is more fun.

So whats the story on these rims?
I was under the impression that they were really light and had a chance to get set for a (relatively) good price but the guy at the LBS said I could build a set of King hubs on DT 5.1(?) rims for only a few grams more and save a little money. He said the big advantage was they were tubeless.
Are these just light DH/FR wheels or are they supposed to be light in general?
I would have put them on my Turner RFX which is my XC/trail bike.

I belive they've replaced the X-max XL, which was too narrow and a tubeless equivalent of the 719, got 2mm wider but still way lighter than the 721; like a D5.1 but with Mavic enginering.

The official weight of the Havocs as measured on our digital scale is-
Front Wheel w/20mm Plugs: 887gms (inc. rim strip)
Front Wheel w/QR Plugs: 906gms (inc. rim strip)
Rear Wheel: 1044gms
Skewers (Pair): 121gms
For my application the actual weight would be 1991gms or 4.4lbs

i bought a set of crossmax ST's.
they are rock solid and have massive straight pull spokes.
man they are quiet and sweet. I havn't had the chance to do major drops yet as I am still repairing brocken bones and ripped muscles.
the sx's are 1900 grams and the xt's are 1650 and both use the zircial spokes

When the mavic rep. was at my shop, i had told him that I thought it would sell big, if they made a 150mm version.

It might sell big but I think it would create warranty headaches up the ass. Deemax are pretty light for how strong they are. look how poorly the DT Enduro rims are holding up on real DH bikes, I imagine the Mavics would suffer a similar fate. Light weight is great but reliability is worth a lot too. especially for non-sponsored racers who need to get more than one run out of a wheelset.
