Any suggestions? I've screwed around with air pressure, rebound, compression, and I just can't get it anywhere good feeling. It's a bit sticky, really too firm, even w/o air in the legs...I am getting frustrated with this fork. It's OK/rideable but not great.

If you're running it on the Vagrant, I absolutely LOVED the 66RC2X I had on mine. The problem with the sport is the dampening. Just not a lot that can be done out side of oil weight/volume tinkering.

If the fork isn't responsive enough, you could try lighter oil. If you feel you're not getting full travel use, reduce your volume. As far as I know there are no lightweight spring options, so tuning the oil is the only real option you have.

thanks Chris - yep it's on the Vagrant. I haven't messed with fork oil levels in a long time; is it pretty straightforward on the Z1?

edit: p.s. I can't imagine a 66 on the hardtail! hah. it's a great fork - I have one on my Yeti and love it. And I've had an All Mtn 1 that was buttery smoov. I might have to start looking for a used fork w/ a higher-end damping system.

is the z1 broken in, they tend to have a longer break in period, i have a z1 sl that i have recieved a little over a month ago and its still pretty sticky, although this fork does have the rc2 dampening and i love it, maybe you just want better dampening?

Yeah, my Vagrant did weigh 38lbs. :) If you're fine with the Z1 chassis, just get an older one with HSCV or a newer one with RC2.

Leftover and used Fox 36 RC2Xs are comming down in price too.

Heh, I've never weighed mine, and I'm scared to! I've been guessing around 35-6lbs. Oh well. I'll keep an eye on the used market, but will probably just keep the Z1 as my build now is less trail and more urban/dj.

spitfire - yeah it's broken in, had it for a year now...and I've owned lots of Zokes.
