I've only seen them sold as pairs.
Check around on the 'net, I've seen LX cranksets for less than $50.

ok, got the crankarm problem fixed, but now i cant shift in the front. i extended the deraillleur as far as it would go and it wouldn't shift onto the third sprocket, do i need a new derailleur or is it just an adjustmnt, i tried moving the derailleur, tightening the cable, loosening the cable, and moved the two screws to every position, but no luck

If you replaced the crank with a different brand, you may need a different BB spindle size.

Yeah, that's exactly what I discovered a couple days ago.
You can get the info from the manufacturer of the crankset that indicates the range of spindle size that they recommend. If you have a longer spindle than recommended for that crankset, there's no way the derailleur's gonna be able to go out that far.
Fortunately, BBs aren't that expensive at all and a good shop should be able to replace that and get it all working smoothly for you in about a half hour.

Couldn't get the BB in? Or couldn't get the crank on?
Just curious what you're doing.
Why do you need a new frame? do you need a new frame?
