Agreed. I see no difference between what he did and somebody who knows they have some STD and has uninformed, unprotected, promiscuous sex.

I get pissed off when people come to work with a cold and spread their disease. This should be considered "attempted murder". That's what I think. yep.

Several people deserve asskicking!

Like US Govt. agent who called the guy from the States to Rome to tell him. How retarded is that? They should've dispatched health and law agents to bring him into custody. While that would've upset me to no end if I was that guy, you do NOT fvck around with a contagious, deadly, no-cure disease.

PS: I drive by the hospital he's in nearly every day. If I get XDR TB, I'm buring that building down!

Well, how about the US border agent who let the guy walk?

So many screw ups.

Figures the guy is a lawyer...

personal injury lawyer, at that.

this guy's gotta be bracing for a flurry of lawsuits...if i was on the same plane as him, i'd be calling a lawyer...

what a clown. his father-in-law works for the CDC and specializes in TB

Indeed. The in-law being a TB researcher for the CDC is interesting. Peculiar coincidence?

They need to suspend him by the arms and let everyone on the plane punch him in a lung a few times.

That said, can I do the same thing to all my friends with kids who cough and sneeze on my food every time we go out to eat?

His dad-in-law was on the TV insisting that he didn't get TB from his lab.

Sounds like a movie.

Imagine all the pain and suffer someone experienced finding they might have gotten TB. That alone should be worth a few mil.

I like the part about how his father-in-law is a doctor in charge of the TB unit of the Center for Disease Control, but he denies giving TB to his son-in-law.

Hmm, guy gets a rare case of TB and his father-in-law is in contact with TB every day? Sounds like Homer Simpson pulling the nuclear material out of his shirt while driving home.

I'd be looking at the father in law as well. This guy is obviously a douche, so maybe he wants to get rid of him...

Agreed. I see no difference between what he did and somebody who knows they have some STD and has uninformed, unprotected, promiscuous sex.
Difference: This lawyer guy wasn't highly contagious and it's entirely possible that nobody contracted it. STD's however, are easily transmitted during unprotected love-making.

I read somewhere that if someone contracts TB from this lawyer guy, legal precedent has shown this dude to be liable. Apparently he is not a very good lawyer.

Apparently he is not a very good lawyer.

I'm sure his mind was less in a legal state and more in a panic.

Hence, why they shouldn't have told him, but should've dispatched agents immediately to pick him up.

Would all of you been clear thinking enough to accept the reality of the situation and turn yourself into authorities?

reflux

If he was in such a state of panic, how did he survive a wedding and honeymoon in Europe? And speaking of which, how come we haven't heard jack ish from his wife?

"Yeah baby, pucker up. Don't worry sweetie, it's only my TB acting up."

LordOpie

I'm just saying that there are so many other fvck-ups in the situation. People who are supposed to be trained with specific protocols and procedures to follow in a situation like this.

THEY need to be sued more than him. THEY need a c0ckpunch more than he does.

Not saying he doesn't.

So I'm scared of TB now.

I don't have to be scared of Monkey Pox, Bird Flu, West Nile, Anthrax or killer bees any more?

Ok, so some more developments...

The border guard who let the guy into the US was fired. Good move, and deserved.

News about the family being uncooperative with CDC and local health officials.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/conditions/06/12/tb.emails.ap/index.html

ATLANTA, Georgia (AP) -- Health officials trying to stop a globetrotting honeymooner with a dangerous form of tuberculosis got little assistance from his lawyer father and his future father-in-law, a TB expert who not only balked at stopping the Greek wedding but went to the ceremony himself, according to e-mails obtained by The Associated Press....

This whole thing stinks of Elitism and selfishness. UGH.

interesting that the doctor who specializes in TB wasn't concerned enough about his own health.

Either he's insane or based on his extensive knowledge -or- felt there was too little danger for himself or his daughter to be concerned.

I dunno, if one of the world's leading researching demonstrates that it's not dangerous by allowing himself and his daughter to spend close contact time with the guy, well, that's a lot of evidence that it's not a problem.
