How is 285 from Bailey over to the CT trail head? Safe to bike? Wide shoulder?

If I remember correctly, it's a three lane road most of the time. one lane on the downhill, two on the uphills... rotates as grades change. I also think there's a decent shoulder.

It seems as safe as any other major road here. I've ridden all sorts of pavement, but not this one. Regular services.

I am trying to remember, but I am not so sure it is three lane. Two most likely, and fairly busy during summer months.

thanks thinking about using this as a bypass for section 4/5 of the ct instead of the bike reroute becuase i need to stay in bailey. Not sure if i can handle the distance from bailey to the reroute to the end of the day i have planned.
