Stripped Torx Bolts?

i am trying to get a rotor off and i managed to get 4 of the 6 bolts off and then of course i stripped the last two. I cut a slot into one of them with a dremel tool to try and remove it with a flat head screwdriver, but the thing won't budge... i tried hitting it with a rubber mallet to loosen it up still nothing...is there anything else i can do other than taking a drill to it as i have no experience doing that.

ok still working on getting those bolts out but while on this topic i was wondering how precisely i need to adjust my hayes HFX 9 brakes... they are rubbing pretty bad but it seems like they always rub....is it just the brakes or am i doing something wrong? how much brake rub is too much?

I've had goo dluck with just drilling off the head(s), removing the rotor and then unscrwing them with a pair of vice grips.

Not pretty - but it has worked for me.

Also on installation I use a torque wrench to 55 in/lbs. on the rotor bolts. I've never had a stuck one or one that's come loose. That's using the blue loctite that usually comes on them.

As far as rub goes. Place a business card between the calipers and rotor when you center the caliper. Caliper bolts go to 110 in/lbs.

I use screw extractors on stripped screws. See them here (http://www.mcmaster.com/) at McMaster-Carr and search for "screw extractor". You need an extractor and the correct size drill bit to go with it.

file down the sides to make it compatible with an adjustable wrench.

drill motor with 1/4 inch bit. Just dill into the head until it falls off, do this for all the stripped bolts. You should be able to remove the shank with your fingers afterward, if not just clamp on with some vicegrips.

well after a long night i finally got the rotor off... ended up trying to use one of those reverse threaded screw removers, which promptly snapped off once i got it in, so i ended up using a chisel, not a wood chisel, to loosen/flatten the sides, then i was able to use some vice grips to turn the bolts

i was considering using SS hex bolts when i put the rotor back on, just the normal ones i could use with an open end wrench, has anyone done this or know of any problems with it?
