hey everyone,

so i worked at ski barn in nj this winter (building skis and snowboards) and now that its spring we r selling bikes. so this got me thinking i would love to try downhill. i never had a mountain bike before but i ride motocross and have been for a few years now. im planing on going to diablo in the very near future when i get some extra money to rent a bike and try it out. i can get a bike for a great price since i work at the barn but i figured i should rent one of the iron horse bikes they have at the park first to see how i like it. so basically i just wanted to know a little more about diablo and any tips that would help my first ride would be great too.

1.) Just like MX, take the time to set the bike up for your weight and riding style (as much as you can with a rental).

2.) Wear armor, the rental shop provides it I believe, but if you have a moto helmet, use it, it's better than a bike helmet.

3.) Start off on upper and lower dominion, OTB, upper breakout, alpine, tempest, triple drop, waterboy, and the trail to the left of upper exodus (can't remember the name).

4.) Have fun and take it easy the first day.

a good thing is to find someone that knows the mountain and roll with them. Find a good line like NJMX835 listed above, go through it slow on your first run so you know where the features are.

i have a lot of gear from motocross that im hoping to use on the mountain too. what do u usually wear desides a helmet of course

-shin pads
-some sort of shoe that "match the pedals"
-obviously wear gloves
-and a diaper just in case...

knee and shinand elbow protection,and chest protection or a pressure suit is a good idea,gloves and goggles cause it gets dusty at times...hold on and smileto the bottom

yo mark its PJ :p. Recognized u as soon as it said ski barn heh. Dude when u wanna go up just let me know and ill go with u that day. as the guys said, its good to ride with some1, so ill show u which trails are good for starting and what not. id rent one of their bikes before you buy, and then if you get into it go from there. lemme know when u plan on goin n me n kurt can prob go with ;)
