Just wondering, thoughts on tires for the upcoming Reading race this weekend? Is there much on concrete that would necessitate semi-slicks, or is it mostly on dirt?
can't wait................. :monkeydance:

Travis - I raced there in 05' and from experience your a$$ will thank you for running Minion 40a's....
There is a LOT of loose rock/dirt on the course (think Platty) mostly on the really steep areas. One particular spot is after the "Airlines" section when you come through the bushes into this open chute - it's almost like a dry riverbed. Even if they are not using that drop - that type of loose rocky stuff is found in other areas as well.
Basic breakdown of the terrain:
Loose/Rocky with dust/powder
Dust/Powder (not too deep maybe a few inches)
Rocks (like Diablo - the kind that don't move)
Hardpack w/ just a bit of Loam here and there
Pavement
Concrete
I have no idea what the course will be like for this race, but from the one I raced 2 years ago the pavement and concrete (stairs) section made up about 10% of the course.

cool, thanks. just hate the feeling of loosing a LOT of time huffing away with slow tires on a fast course. :)
(have to keep up with Todd somehow, he's actually been riding his road bike this winter.... http://ecanus.net/smileys/help-sign.gif)
