7spd chain?

Hi,
Doing some maintanence on my moms bike and she is running an ancient drivetrain from the 90's with 7spd Alivio and gripshift. Is there any 7spd parts for sale out there still? I can't seem to find any. Can she run a 8spd chain with her 7spd cogset? Thanks,

a 6 7 and 8 speed chains are all the same , its 9 that gets narrower, andy way you can run a 9 speed chain on a 7 speed set up no problem, you just can't go the other way, 7 will not work on a 9
