New to DH, just got an 06 Sunday Team. Where do I start with the 5th Element shock air pressure settings. 170lb with gear... The Boxxer feels good and i think I can dial it in. I got a Diablo season pass and plan on spending a lot of time there. Also good tires for the park? thankx!

some maxxis minions 60a would be good or some kenda nevigal/bluegrooves . tire width of 2.5 and and make sure they arent single ply. post the shock setting in the downhill section.

2.5 front minion 2 ply, front and rear. supertacky works the best. i have yet to get a flat at creek using this combo. i run about 24 psi and i know someone who using the same combo but 18 psi and no flats. kendas are good but dont have the sidewall like a maxxis does. so for a new rider i would suggest maxxis for the sidewall alone.

Supertacky is 40 or 42a. A racing compound they ware the fastest. The 60a is a harder compound maybe a little harder then a kenda bluegroove, and that will last longer. Only people a soft tire makes sense for is a racer, or sponsored rider that gets them really cheep. I will be running kendas as a daily tire and have minions as race tires.

I run intense Comp 60 2.5 front and rear. I have ridden these tires for 2 seasons and just now have to get new ones. They have a thick sidewall and good tread pattern. The tread pattern is still in good shape but the walls are starting to rip a little. Kenda sidewalls are two thin for me I always get flats. I know a lot of people ride Maxxis high Rollers and I know they have a thick sidewall but I don't like the tread pattern to much.

high rollers suck a**. i started last season with mich dh16. they are a good tire but i got too many flats even if i ran 35lbs in my tire. i switched over to maxxis and i will never look back.

Thanks for the good advice. I have a set of 2.5 nevegals, and will get some tacky Maxxis for racing. Or at least my version of racing. My friend owns a shop and gives me sweet deals on stuff. Hope 2 see ya soon at Diablo. Until then I'll watch the videos on the Diablo webpage and think I'm gonna be fast. I gotta met those guys in the video, they're nuts!

i use 19psi in the back and 73psi in the front. it gives the performince i need at diablo. nothing over 1.9 wide though, or you are too big to ride the skinnys. i only ware a glove on my left hand. i no its wierd, but i red in mountain bike action that it lets you have the control you need with given up any feel. try it.

60a is a hard compound also known as the maxxpro. The molicules of the tire are smaller and closer together. Almost like taking a pillow and putting it into a trash bag. Take the air out of the bag and the pillow becomes hard. Let some air in and it becomes softer. The 3c is a mixture of the 42a the 70a and a 42a. Its a super tacky, an slow reezay and a maxxpro( maxxpro is really 60a but i think they are about the same.) the 70a gives less knob flex, the 42a helps with braking and the 40a helps with cornering. It seems like a decent tire for all around use.
