*Repost from MTBR. I know some of you check RM, but not MTBR, so I thought I'd ask here as well*

So, I just picked up a brand new (rarely used) Manitou Shermann SPV 170mm.

I've put probably 10 rides on it, and hadn't had a single problem (XC rides with the lock-out, heavy free-ride and DH rides, etc.). I did a quick 30 minute ride yesterday with some steep climbs, so I flipped the lock-out, and headed up the hill. On my descent, the fork felt abnormally stiff, so I stop, and sure enough, it's not locked out anymore, but I've got only 5" of very stiff travel (felt like 2" of travel).

So I got back to my car, popped the lock-out cap/lever off, and used a wrench to manually turn the hex screw. Nothing.

So I get home, flip the bike upside down and let it sit so the oil can flow to the stanchions to see if that works. Get up this morning, flip the bike right side up, turn the knob, press down. Again, nothing.

Any ideas? The fork feels exactly like the fork feels when it's locked out, but no matter what I do, it won't disengage the lock-out.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I always say, if a good flip-eroo and a sitter-over-nighter doesn't fix something wrong with your bike when you have no idea what it is, bring it to your lbs! lol I wouldn't go on and start taking it apart and ruin something, when your lbs might be able to fix it real quick for free.....unlike mine...mine would probably take it and rebuild the godamn thing and charge me $120 without even asking lol

The LBS around here would do the same thing...

And the last time they rebuilt my fork they totally screwed it up.

Send it to Manitou. It's likely a warranty issue
