Basily what the title says, i don't know to much about this stuff, my friend and I were messing with it today. he has the tool to unlock the casset but it has a thing sticking out and it doesn't fit into the place to unlock it. Any type of info or guide would be great!

Thanks,
Corey

Take a look at the Park Tool site. http://parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=48

Might be a freewheel instead of a cassette, and you would need a different tool.

but it has a thing sticking out

What is the thing sticking out? the axle?

Sounds like you need a tool with a bigger hole, or you need to remove the axle first.

bolt on hubs aren't hollow like a quick release hub. They should have 5mm allen bolts in the ends of the axle. Just twist the axle out of the hub and use the cassette remover or just use a remover without the middle guide rod in it.
