at diablo theres some like metal gates that they use in city's to hold back crowds (right? thats what they are i think). you stand in them to start so you can have something to hold onto, then you ride down a ladder through a laser-timer and go wherever the course goes. its normally 1 minute intervals between racers. dont miss your start time either. you can race am, it probably wouldnt be a problem, just so long as your not really slow and hold up the guy behind you

AM is heavily sandbagged like heavily. however intro is to an extent too. try intro unless u are good and think its too easy for u. if u place really high then move up.

So let's see, your're upset because your time sucked at Diablo and everyone that's faster than you is considered a sandbagger? Get a clue buddy and do a little research on AM times compared to Pro times before mouthing off for no reason. It just happened to be Phillip's first year racing who took 1st overalll for the series. Geoff, Kurt, Zach, PJ, Tim and the other top guys all had a great year but you can't call them sandbaggers. It's a series and everyone has a goal of winning that series. Don't be an ass.

If that riders time was consistently in that range, maybe he should move up to AM. But, you keep forgeting it's a series with prizes to overall winners if they do well all year. Just because you win 1 race in your class doesn't mean you should move up right away.
In the past the top 5 riders from the series were told to bump up a class the following year, and I'm sure that will happen again this year. Racers also need to get their feet wet (so to say), and get used to the whole race atmosphere. You can't expect people to race pro because they won a couple of races their first or second year racing.

everytime somone mentions the words "sandbag" and "Diablo" in the same sentence all hell breaks loose. I am not choosing sides, but I do like to sit back and watch the action.
I'd rather watch two chicks go at it, but if this gets you going, have a blast.

hahahah. idk, the norba method in theory seems to prevent that, get top 5 twice to move up, required after 5 top 5's, right? i suppose thats what diablo does (or did).

beginners are allowed to have times as fast as they want. it was his first season, he's just a damn good rider. you've also got to take into account the course that day. some courses are very fast, less technical and trail conditions forced all classes to the same course. when that happens there won't a huge spread between the pro/am/intro winners.
sandbagging sucks, but unfortunately the only way to beat it is to get faster. Pro is the only class where sandbagging is impossible. arguing about it in other classes is pointless. just know you need to be an elite rider to win any of the classes, and try to have fun regardless of your placing.

Anyone know if the First Diablo race is still part of the gravvity east series? I have heard conflicting info from several sources. there is nothing on the web site, or the registration form.

If only I had the skillz to sandbag...
One day... One day...
Until then I'll be tea-bagging... that's like "sandbagging" but in reverse.
Basically you try as hard as you can but you still suck so bad, that you make everyone else's times look good.

thats the pussy way. get dirty and ride. come up early season and ride the lifts and hit the trails. from what i hear DH is pretty similar to moto, ur just gonna ahve to get used to a few things. Basically what DH racing is is following a trail, os just rip hard trails as fast as you can.
P.S.
I will also be tea-bagging it at Diablo this season.
