I'm sure John Edwards is just marketing himself with all the Jesus talk, tho it is a bit disconcerting.

Edwards also said he was against teacher-led prayers in public schools, but he added that "allowing time for children to pray for themselves, to themselves, I think is not only OK, I think it's a good thing."

How about this... "personal time" for, say, 10 minutes? While some kids can pray -- God can't hear them at home? -- others can quietly do whatever they want, even play muted video games as far as I'm concerned.

Whatcha think about "personal time"? How would you feel if it was called "prayer time" with that expectation?

I don't think it is a good idea. It is really hard to know where to draw the line though. Is there any chance that some of the secular kids could feel 'left out'? I think that would be bad for the separation of church and state, and bad for any religion (to grow in ranks because it is 'popular' reeks of faulty motives).
