from time to time, my corporate vpn will get snipped, and it appears to not be correlated to which vpn i'm connected. to make sure i don't unnecessarily rouse ragaswamy krishamurti, i need to determine when it's our problem, or someone else's.

results from internetpulse.net is a nice place to start, but i've found that high latency isn't necessarily linked to the cause of my particular failed link. recently sprint had crapped out, but it took doing some tracert to further determine it as the cause.

anyone have a good recipe for finding out where packets are being dropped?

Traceroute will tell you how far you're getting before the $hit's going into the black hole.
