i found this very interesting. worth the reading.

In a society with equal numbers of men and women, each man with four wives gives women the additional pick of three men—the poor saps whose potential wives decided they'd prefer one-quarter of a billionaire instead. In the Sahel region of Africa, half of all women live in polygynous households. The other half have a good choice of men and a lot more bargaining power.
yesterday, coming back from playing DDR (yes, am gay like that at times) with a female friend, my 20 yo sister and her boyfriend.. i started talking about this with my sister.
she thought it made perfect sense. she had absolutely no logical objection to it.
on the other hand, my friend vanessa thought it sucked.
discuss

Agreed as it seems as any talk of Alexis actually getting married is presumptuous at best if any potential spouse finds out about this. DDR.....:twitch:

you know what, you're right: why don't you video yourself doing it & pump it to u2b & let the brethren decide.
make sure you have at least 5 appletini's (for "courage")

For Americans, the obvious example is Mormons. After you read "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer, many polygamist wives do not choose their husbands, and live under virtual slavery.
Point that out to your sister.

but thats more of a deviation from the polygamist model, rather than an intrinsec problem.

Think of Alexis...now think of the lamest thing possible....(.sorry I repeat myself;) ) and think of Alexis doing that and you have digital dance revolution. At least I think that's what it stands for. If he wore a tu-tu and minced around everywhere imitating Richard Simmons he couldn't be any more gay.
WTF is DDR?
T3h intrawebs has your answer.

Personally, I couldn't see why anyone would want more than 1 wife...and I'd think guy that was married would most likely agree with me.

I was over at a friend's house (who has HBO...or maybe it was Showtime...whatev) and there's this "Original Series" called Big Man....or Big Family ...or something...I don't really care...but it was about this dude that has multiple wives and a couple kids from each...The guy looked really stressed out all the time...I get enough stress from 1 wife....don't need anymore than that.

No, it isn't. At least in developed nations.
