Dude, is that Sam Hill? Is he coming to PA?

It'll be a rockin' good time. We're going to have lots of bikes to demo out. Not exactly sure what will be in the quiver yet, but there will for sure be Sundays for people to ride! Red Bull anyone?

Jerry, are you guys doing a clinic that day?

As far as I know we won't be doing any clinics, due to the amount of people that will be there riding. It would just be too busy I think to do anything worth while.

We'll have sundays for all to ride though! Most likely some Kamicho's and maybe some 7 points, maybe some 6points as well. Not sure what the quiver will be holding, but it should be good!

I need some advice, if I was thinking of coming from Vancouver, what would the quickest/cheapest way be? The ferry to Port Angeles from Victoria is pretty pricy and it's pricy to get from Vancouver over there.... how much are the ferrys from the Edmonds to Kingston?

two1
02-23-2007, 01:01 AM
Just come down I-5 and take the Edmonds to Kingston ferry, its like 10 bucks or so for car and driver and 3 or 4 bucks for passengers. You also only pay for passengers going to Kingston, coming back to Edmonds passengers are free. After the ferry its just a little over an hour and your in P.A.

jon-boy
02-23-2007, 01:04 AM
Yep, just check it. That's cheap! Cheaper than BC ferries by a long way. You may well see me there. I've heard a lot about the riding in PA and this is a good excuse to check it out.

Right... but just a heads up - over 7 feet high and they ding you with "overheight" which doubles the base rate. That is lame if you've got a roof rack. I think I've slipped through without paying the extra before, but it sucks when they enforce it.

Same with BC ferries, I'll stick the bike in the trunk for that drive, it'll cut down on the gas too.

Sounds like you're not shredding enough gnar! Haha! Most of P.A. really isn't that bad. White knuckles could cause some hurt because you're going 35 most of the time. Limbo is pretty tame, though there's 2 or 3 spots where if you dont' make the turn, you're going way down the hill. Railage is sick, but has some parts that can be sketch if you're not used to tight turns down a steep face. Pro course can catch you off guard for sure. It's a sicks trail, but there are some sketch sections if you're not on your game. The goal of pro course is to clean the rock face drop to drop to off camber log to tight right to left turn over off camber roots to roll down... You know the one I mean!

P.A. is sick, and i can't wait to get back out there!

oh yea, thats with the like 2-3 foot drop, thats on a hairpin right turn right? if you dont turn as you drop off, see you about 50ft down the hill, haha. then the drop to drop after it definetly gets your blood goin, especially when wet or dusty! super fun, sketch, gnar section

Everyone will need to sign a waiver to protect the landowners, as I'm sure you expected. However, if you are under 18, an your parent or guardian will have to sign. If you contact us, I believe we can mail one to you to have signed ahead of time. E-mail us with you're mailing address to olympicdirtsociety@yahoo.com.

This past weekend I got to check out PA for the first time. We hiked up and only got to ride Limbo and white knuckles, but we had a blast. We stopped and talked to Casey on the way down White knuckles. Looks like he and the group he was with where cutting a new trail right next to W.K. Looks like it'll be lots of fun! Can't wait to come up again. Unfortunately I wont be able to make this event, but maybe the next one. Tom

Waivers will be available at the event but if you're under 18, it must be signed by a parent or guardian. You can go to the blog for a copy, I just put it up today:
www.olympicdirtsociety.blogspot.com
Also, it wouldn't have anything to do with club. We will have more info on the club joining opportunities soon. Our initial thoughts are that all that will be required to be a member is to be on a list and be an IMBA card holding member. I thinks it's $25 /year to be a member, but other than that the club will be free. We're going to pay for club expenses (insurance, banking, various stuff) with proceeds from the events.

If it's not going to rain in only one county in Western WA, it would probably be Clallam (where PA is). Even if it dumps, the trails can handle quite a bit of water due to good drainage. Also, if it dumps we'll try to have a chain of canopies for the "lift line". That said, rain gear and fenders would be prudent.

I haven't been there in a couple of years, so things may have changed but there were some easier lines when I was there. They were less technical and pretty much blue lines that were just fast DH w/o drops.

fuzzycatnuts
03-21-2007, 12:29 AM
So the easiest line is white knockle? How big are the drop on it? Is there walk arounds for the harder lines?

Yes there are some mellower lines. Upper knuck to cake walk being the easiest. The knuck is really pretty tame it just depends on how pinned you want to hit it. All ia all there should be something for everybody to get there fix.

The best place to catch one is probably on Capital Hill:shocked: . But if it is a ferry that you want, down on the Seattle waterfront, Coleman Dock is where you should go. Sunday AM shouldn't be too crowded, but error on the side of showing up a bit early. Probably 30 minutes should be fine.

No way! Edmonds for the ferry to Kingston.

I5 north, look for the exit that says Edmonds Ferry and follow the signs. It's the same exit as Montlake Terrace. Go whenever you can, you will end up in a line. You may as well just show up when you can. If you try and plan it you will just end up missing the boat.

I tend to trust weather forecasts more in summer and winter...I take the spring and fall forecasts with a grain of salt. Much too unpredictiable. All the same, I feel good about our chances this weekend. The only people that need to worry are those amongst us that are "bad" witches...they melt when they contact water.

They will be free of charge. We'll have a sunday team, 7point, 6point, and a kamicho Sohun Bucho for demo bikes, on top of our own bikes(my sunday, lars' sunday, Simon's sunday, Zeb's sunday and ASX, and Nate's ASX) Though you might have to ask very nicely to ride some of ours!

No, I'm taking a bike clinic up in Vancouver that day and Tracy is coming along and riding Fromme while I'm in class. I told him to go without me, but he didn't wanna. We are looking forward to some ride reports though!!!

Yes...yes, you can! But only there and on that day. By the way, you've got mail!

I guess if you guys can't be at PA then Fromme is a viable alternative. I'll actually be somewhat envious of you guys. Have fun!!!

I don't want to jinx(sp?) it, but I just came off the hill and it wasn't all that bad. This is the first actual rain we've had all week. We see it go by and pour in the Straits, but it's been pretty ok here. (knock on wood). The RSVP thing may or may not have worked??? All I know is that we have 3 very large trucks, and one pretty big truck ready to go, so we should have it covered. Thanks in advance for coming out!!!
