Ok so I have been looking around the last day or so being as the 888 needs an oil change.
Unlike the others it comes with heavier springs than a stock 888.
The listed oil tables are as follows from the site:
135 - 180 240cc's oil
180 - 200 245cc's oil
Dont do it, it is WAY to progressive and stops way before bottoming. I called Tech today and found out the springs that come in the WC (Ti) are for a 180 - 220lb rider and the measurement of oil is still based on the void from top of compressed stanchion to oil fill line.
135 - 180lb rider is 220
180 - 220lb 190 - 210
Well I filled it correctly then drained it to a clean container to see how much oil it actually took and it was approx. 190cc's per leg.
So approx. 55cc's less than oil volume recomended.
Now it feels right and btw it was some cruddy colored oil. that came out originally
The Ti springs are light compare to the other spare 888 springs I have laying around..

great stuff bullcrew
i normally use 200ml for the 170lbs rider most frequently found around these parts.

Thanks bullcrew. That pretty much confirms the setup I have come to like.
Me - ~185lbs.
'06 888rc2x (8")
one regular, one heavy spring.
200cc of 5wt in the compression/rebound leg
(the adjusters have so much range, a lighter oil makes them less sensitive and easier to dial in)
215cc of 7wt in the high speed comp / end stroke leg
(I'm planning on dropping this to 5wt too as I feel it ramps up too suddenly at the end and would like a less-sensitive adjustment for finer tuning)
Note: I run the lighter spring in the high speed comp leg, as well as a little more oil. I like the spring rate with 1 med, 1 firm, so if I want it more progressive, I can turn in the preload on the high-speed leg, and it will affect the spring less, but ramp up more. (the rc2x has a piston w/an o-ring that reduces the air volume as you increase spring preload)

does the 888 RC2X WC'S only come with the firm Ti SPRINGS
will they still work for both the heavy and light rider ?
can you get them with standard Ti SPRINGS ?
is there such a thing as suggested spring combination
for different rider weights somewhere on the net
for 07 888rc2x forks ?
Cheers

Only the 3? # springs so far per Brian at Marzocchi. They are not available with the lighter ones as yet.
I am still waiting for white lowers for replacement and a new stanchion. I put a small nick on my comp one and just going to have a back up.
They will work with the lighter riders as well, just use a little less and they will be softer.
I will have a ride report as well as pics this week with the Canfield and all the parts on it and how they performed.
It'll be a good review now that all is on track. As far as my shock issue is concerned that is because I like my stuff for hucking with no kick due to quick decisions on landing ie stairs, drops to busy road easments etc...
Itll be great. :D

BC,
thanks mate for your help, you may of just decided my new fork
either the 888RC2XWC or 888RC SL ATA
but liking the sound of the WC's if they already have the firm springs in them.
lookimg forward to your report on them
I'm guessing the WC'S would be less maintenance than the air fork
cheers and thanks again

That I don't know, I am not sure of the maintenance on the ata's. The wc is good ol reliability and less weight than the rc2x as well as I weigh in at 226 right now :D down from my x-mas 236 and on my way to the 210 mark. It holds me fine and the preload allows a ton of adjustment to compensate the varying weight so I am good.
I can attest to this point that:
1- It handles a front heavy 7' to flat and takes it
2- It handles square edge hits of stairs and sucks em up
3- it moshes over a 6" curb at speed as well as slow and sucks it up without pulling up.
4- It handles drops amazing and no clunking or grinding from it.
5- Not that it matters but I ride up a stair set and its as smooth as a handicap ramp. (obviuosly minus the dude in wheelchair. :D I don't have wheel chair bump compliance setting :D)
Note: It did have a squeak today after changing the oil but went away when I rode it (right away).
So far love it and it has a huge rider weight range as well as style vs. huck race settings. Small bump compliance is tops as well.
