Do any of you guys run the Azonic Outlaw wheelset? Can someone tell me what the engagement is on the rear hub? Is it 16 points of engagement or more? I've got a new bike and want a decent wheelset in the near future, but don't want to go all out on price.
I run hope bulb hubs on my trail bike, and Ringle hubs on my Stinky. Both of them have a nice engagement, but the rear bub "Formula" that came stock on my STP has a sloppy feel, and thought I might upgrade sooner than later.
My main concern is the engagement points, as I'm going to use this for some urban, street, DJ, light freeride.

Look into the Transition Revolution. They now come in red, white and black, and are bombproof. Also give the Bombshell Fatdaddys a look.
As for your question, never ran Outlaws, so I cant answer it.

the outlaws have 24 ratchet points like the new hopes do. not the best feeling like king or hadley the it is solid feeling. i'm currently running those wheels myself and also have hope pro2's on my xc bike both feel about the same strength wise the hopes are just a ton lighter

For about the same price, i would be looking into the Transition wheelset. Also, watch ebay like a Hawk, i picked up a set of brand new Sun Eight tracks for 300 shipped.

Outlaws rock!!!! I have been running them for 2 years now. I have had many High End wheels in the past and can say these are just as good. The Outlaws are lighter than the Mavic DeeMaxs too.
Good luck man.

Ya... I got a set of 8 tracks from Price Point last year for $299.00 I love that wheelset. The Transition wheelset looks kind of wide for my street bike. My friend has a set and loves them, but I remember them being wide. Thanks for the input on the engagement guys. I was hoping that they had more than a cheap hub like XT or Formula. I think the ones I have now only have 16 or 18 clicks. Much slop in between rotations.

^^Yup, Transition hasn't added them to their site yet, but you can order them from dropnzone.com or call transition directly.

I've been running a set of Outlaws since July 06...love em, nice wheels for the money, hubs are good too. I agree with Sir_Crackien, not the lightest in the world, but theyve held up to some crazy stuff so I cant complain.

Good value for the $$$. I had them on my old DH bike with no trouble. And a friend of mine has them on his DJ/street bike and has not dented them yet.

When I was out shuttling last weekend, one of my friends left his front outlaw out and a LandRover ran over it. We had to bend the disk brake rotor back, but the wheel stayed pretty close to true -- no dents.
I've been running a set for at least a year now, and I've had no complaints. I bent my front rim up in whistler, but some shameless truing has made it rideable until I can afford a new rim. They're a pretty nice bang for the buck, and they're so rugged that they help me get laid -- no lies.
I'd also look into that transition set. After owning a dirtbag and talking to the guys who run the place for some replacement parts, I'd be willing to stand behind any product they put their name on.

not to steal your thread...but I am looking for a Azonic Outlaw front wheel, 20mm. Currently have a doublewide up front and want to match the Outlaw I have on the rear.

Where did you find this info? I'm not so sure it's correct...

I have had several sets of these wheels. two pairs of Azonics, one set with 135 rear and one with 150 rear. both were excellent for general abuse. rode the 135s for a year and never had to true them. currently running the 150s and they are holding up just as well. Most of the true gravity ridding I get in is really rocky, I've gotten a number of pinch flats at speed and my rims are in really good shape.
Conversely(sp?), I have a set of performance loco wheels (these are reportedly the same thing as the azonics w/ 32 spokes as opposed to 36) and they seam a little more delicate than the azonics. I would say I abuse the LOCOs more, seeing as they are on my street/dirt bike. I have to true these more often and the rear bearings don't seem to holding up very well.

Do a search in the DH section. Someone did a weight comparision with a digi. The Outlaws were lighter than the Deemaxx.

anyone have a good source to purchase the Azonic Outlaw? I don't need the complete wheelset...just the front with 20 mm/ta.

performance sells the Loco's as singles or pairs. Pretty much the same wheel with different stickers. I believe the outlaws are only sold as pairs. You might want to check the classifieds, It seems like some one is always selling/looking for half a set.

Azonic sells them separate.

may be a stupid question, but does anyone run them on their sunday and if so have you had any problems with actually running them on your sunday as far as the 12mm conversion?

I'm not sure if this helps, but I run them on an '05 7point. the rear triangles are different between the two bikes. The 7point uses a 150x12 hub, I can use the both the axle that came with the frame or the hub wheel with out any sort of modification or special parts.
edit: Is the 12mm conversion you are talking about for the hub or frame. the 150 hub came to me as 12mm.

I'm pretty sure the sunday and the 7point rear axles are the same. I think I can use my axle with the outlaw rear wheel and not have a problem. Thanks

out of curiosity, can the outlaw front wheel be brought down to a 12mm front skewer? i know the rear has a conversion kit, but i havn't heard anything about the front.
also, for trail riding and light fr, which wheelset would be preferable: the azonics or the transitions? weight is a factor here.

The outlaws come with conversions for both so the front can be 20mm through or standard quick release just like the rear can be 12mm or standard quick release.
