words of wisdom? a little vague, you already bought the frame, so what are you expecting people to say? well, my advice would be to make the build is lighter weight because the steelhead frame is a beast already. if you don't mind the weight though, then, well, have fun.

step 1. remove saddle/seat post
step 2. mount parts mentioned in #1 to full suspension bike

jk, steelhead is a sic bike

One thing you'll have to deal with is the non-sliding disc mount and the horizontal dropouts. If you're anal about getting the pads to hit the most amount of rotor possible, it'll take a bit of setting up. With mine, I just run the wheel all the way forward 'cuz I like short chainstays, but the pads wear a little unevenly b/c they're not making full contact with the rotor. I trail ride it too, and have never had any issues w/ lack of braking power b/c of it, so I don't think it's a big issue.
Love the geometry, tho - w/ a Pike, it's truely a do everything bike. Enjoy!

what size rear tire do you run? im hoping to get a Wierwolf 2.55 LT back there........

yea i talked to the LBS about the horv. dropouts and they said i can go bolt-thru rear hub or tensioners so i can keep my quick rel. set up....what type of set-up are you running?

You should be fine with that tire - I run an old 2.7 Maxxis Minion R on ther back of my Steelhead.

If you use Surly tensioners, you can still use your QR hub.

I'm running a 2.25 Motoraptor out back with plenty of space to spare. I have a 2.55lt but haven't tried it in the back yet. Shouldn't be a problem, and you can slide the rear wheel back in the dropouts from where mine is to make more room, too.

I'll agree with what everyone else has to say. The rear brake can be annoying to setup. I've run it with a 2.5 Nokian NBX in the rear with no problem, but I've recently switched to a smaller tire because the bike was pushing 40 lbs.
I've run both qr and 12mm bolt hubs: The 12 makes a big different in sturdiness of the rear end, but didn't really help with the slipping of the dropouts. I currently have a qr with a tugnut on one side, have had no problems with slipping since.
