My shimano chain exploded tonight so I think im going to replace it. I have extra links to put it back together but its not the best chain to begin with so I might as well upgrade. I was wondering what kinda chains you guys are running on your freeride bikes. Weight is not an issue, I just want something beefy. Oh, and its a 9spd.

i run sram 991 w/ a 980 cassette on my preston becuse it was cheap and it has been awsome perfect sifts strong and light, and i run 970 road stuff on my top and that works well to.

Sram, the quick link is key. I busted a bunch of shimano.

I like SRAM 991 but I love Wipperman.
You can't beat the durability of Wipperman. Their quick link is far superior to SRAM's as well.

Get a Wipperman. I ran one for two hole seasons and it is still going strong. The link is way easier and more efficient than sram. Also, it will simply not rust/corrode. I ride in the PNW almost everyday, and this thing is still shiny and smooth as day one.

SRAM 971 and Shadow interlock v2. Shimano chains are down right dangerous!

991 for me. Like the others said, great chain and you can't beat the link.
