But is there anyway to pull songs off my ipod and put them on my hardrive?

It can be done. I use a mac, but I have watched other people pull music off ipods with PCs. For mac, the program is called Senuti... I think a search on google should bring something up for you

It can be done, there are plenty of places explaining how. Software called ephpod is probably your best bet.

Make sure you have hidden and system files visible.

Also, I noticed that the files on the ipod have funky names, not the filenames I gave them. Or am I looking in the wrong place?

yea the filenames are all messed up. I can't even find what i'm looking for.

Use Winamp.

I took my friends ipod, connected it to my PC, launched winamp, and pulled all his music off his ipod to my hard drive, correct titles and all.
