has anyone had any experience on the 5's? I have played with the 7's and was pleased with my experience but I have never tried out the 5's.

aside from the speed dial knob not being there to play with, the brakes work the same in my experience. there may be some weight diff or something but performance wise, i couldnt tell the difference between the two if i were riding down a trail.

For some reason 5s always feel like crap and 7s feel awesome. I wish I could explain it because it shouldn't be the case but that's how it goes in my experience.

if i were looking for disc brakes, i'd be all over that. at the shop, we sell BB5s for $85 and i think those are pieces of ****.

Juicy 5s are the best brake on the market as far as I'm concerned. I used one pair for two seasons and they felt perfect the entire time. There isn't a brake available that I would rather have, at any pricepoint.

Goddamn man, I hope y'all give them a hooker while you fix their bikes.
I like my 5s better than my 7s.

the after market ones seem to be ok. but the ones that come stock on specialized, cannondale, giant, and trek. i've had more then enough problems with. stay away!

Ah, that would explain why the ones I've had experience with sucked.

what do y'all sell them for?
wait...i just checked our site. either i'm not thinking correctly, or the box was mis-marked. guy had some installed yesterday. i'm going to have to look into that tomorrow at the shop.

$60 I think. No more than $70.
The profit should be from installing them. There is not one single brake that is harder to stop rub on brand new rotors.

pieces of ****. and it's all because of that damn spring that's pushing the pads. the worst part is that those thing are littered all over complete bikes. what makes them even worse is when they get paired up with goofy cable routing like on the Cannondale Rush. ugh.

Are you talking about the J5's or the BB5's?
I had the J7's when they first came out. Had some problems wiht the adjuster knob. Got a really good deal on a set of J5's the next year (not as good as the deal listed above) and sold the J7's. Used them for almost two years with no problems until late last summer. Got a deal on some Magurs Gustavs so I decided to try those out.
My only problem with Avid at all is the rotors that came with them. They seemed to get burnt-up when used for DH.

BB5s.
bogey, i checked the guy's receipt...for whatever reason, and i plan to get some resolve out of this, the brakes we sold him were $85 a piece...our site (online expanded catalog, aka QBP stock) lists them at $56. if it were like $5 or maybe $10, i'd just let it slide...but ****, man, $29? retarded. someone screwed something up.

found out, finally....the prices for the brakes we sold were still from last year, before Avid dropped their prices.

hey i'm wondering, are the juicy 5s better than hayes hfx 9s or formula k18s? the price point is great, but i've heard of some issues with brutal squealing and quality control problems. i just opted out of hfx 9s for the juicy 5s, but my bike isn't actually being put together for another 2 weeks, so i can still change the parts out.

hayes any thing < avid anything (beside code maybe) < formula new brakes.
the k18 i would say would out perform the hayes for sure without a doubt and would out perform avids as well.
the puro is the same as the k24 besides the carbon lever and some ti bolts which is the same as the k18 beside the external feel adjustment and stainless bolt. other than that all the formula brakes are identical. same MC, caliper, pads, and hose
btw the blaco is just a polished k24 nothing more.
