quick question. are the crowns compatible between the newer boxxers and the older ones (2003 6"/7" boxxer Race w/ lowers)? the old one's got a chris king lower race installed but i wanna use the newer 2006 boxxer WC but it has a 1.5 CC headset lower race on it. I'm thinking of just swapping the lower crown.... or technically speaking, using the stanchions and lowers of the WC (plus upper crown w/ integrated stem) but the older crowns/steertube w/ the king headset set-up. I'm going to try it tomorrow and my guess is it should be ok but i just wanna get some quick answers from someone who knows this right off.
thanks.

Yes, they are compatible. I believe it is easier just to swap the headset race than swapping the crowns. If I remember correctly, the tolerance on the older boxxers are pretty tight.

A rock? Try rubber mallet.

Chris King crown races are b*tch to get off....
I am actually using 2003 crowns/steerer on my 06 worldcup. Thats just because Ive been too lazy to get the 06 crowns off of my friend who I bought it from.

No ****. You don't need a special tool to take off headset race. Been using hammer and screw driver on all my HS and they're fine.

done. screwdriver and a hammer. wasn't concern about popping it out, but more on the installation part. i don't have my pipe... so i just used the wooden handle of the hammer.
