I'm on a bit of a budget right now and I'm looking for new tires. I have found a couple good deals and would like input. These tires will be mainly used for rocky northern Virginia trail riding with some urban stuff thrown in every once in a while.

Specialized is selling their Roller Pro D2 (http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqProduct.jsp?spid=26521) tires for $18.00, which seems like an awesome deal to me. I've got a pair of Specialized Roller RS on my current bike and they have served me well. My only concern is that these are specifically wet/loose terrain tires. They've got the dry condition in the same model but in a 2.4 size, which would be a slight jump from 2.3. Plus I'm not sure how easy it will be to find 2.4 tubes.

The other option are the Tioga Factory DH (http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/11897-320_TIODH3-3-Parts-73-Tires/Mountain/Tioga-Factory-DH-Tire.htm) tires. I know these are pretty popular but I've never owned a set. Pricepoint has them for $19.98.

I'm also open to other suggestions - if there's a reason these are so cheap please let me know :)

Im about to pick up a set of Maxxis Bling Bling tires from Jenson USA for 17 bucks each. They are a couple years old but they are Slalom specific tires so they should roll pretty fast and they have pretty good reviews.

Just a thought.

I forgot some sites where I used to buy from, but found one again.. BlicycleTires.com and BikeTiresDirect have some pretty sweet deals. Was thinking about about trying the Conti Leader for the trail, it's only a 2.1 but the tread looks sweet, and the brown skinwall is A++ in the looks dept.

I have Kenda Nevegals and they grip so good. They are better than all my other tires. And pretty much everyone else that has had them liked them.

I have been super happy with the Bontrager Big Earls (2.5). You can run them at reasonably low pressures without pinch flatting and they hook up well on all kinds of stuff.

Aww, what happened to Specialized's signature 'Umma Gumma Gray'?? I had a pair of the old Control S's on my metallic blue Bridgestone MB-6 w/ polished Manitou Sport fork, they were tight. That Rhythym tire looks cool.

don't worry about tubes being small, unless they are .5in or more different and thin tubes.

mtbr.com has a bunch of reviews on tires and to see what works best in your area ask the local riders.

either go with nevegals, because they have an awsome tread pattern, or get the specialized. my friend runs specialized tires lots of the time and they are really nice. infact one of the tires he had was the same one your looking at. it was really nice in hardpack/slightly softer stuff. pretty much the only thing around here. everyone with a kona used to ride tiogas and just skid untill they were bald. they suck. the only good tioga is the white dragon and the turtle one for drit jumping.
