For forrest riding and an all arround only one bike bike should i get a hardtail or a freeride bike?

And also, bikes can be both a hardtail and a freeride bike.

It sounds like a 7 inch travel frame is too much, so a hardtail would be a lot easier to ride and will probably also be a lot cheaper.

sounds like a sick parts spec for a WEYLESS!
get a short travel giant frames arent too expensive for what
you get - I have a trance - good for trails and jumping
The Reign is a longer travel version for trail and FR

This isnt one of the options that you listed but I think it would be good for you, if your doing single track but still want some travel, A transition Bottlerocket. WWW.Transitionbikes.com Rider owned and Operated, I have talked to some people who go big on em and they absolutely love them. But out of your 2 choices the HT would be my choice.
ps- the bottlerocket has 5" of travel
