What cranks can you suggest for an sx? I was tring to decide between Hozfeller Howitzers, Saints or Diablous. But someone else sugested the Deus or XT. I want to keep the weight down but need something that will hold up to Diablo Mtn. Creek and Pkill.

not the deus, that is an XC crankset. XT is strong, but won't be as stiff as saint. look at jenson usa and get some saints for $175. otherwise, the holzfeller oct would be my first choice, but i have seen a lot of guys running raceface atlas. they're super strong, but not monsters like the diabolus. if you're on the lighter side, the atlas would be awesome.

Saints! I got mine for 112 bucks new and I couldnt be happier, they are super stiff, cheap, and sexy as hell.

the OCT are hollow, yeah look at the RF Atlas. I like the Diablous which i currentley have but i find them much unneeded.. For me atleast i wont be breaking them any time. So i whould have taken the Atlast.

OCT are the new version which are hollow, there for lighter...and they are the strongest set of cranks on the market...not to mention lightest as far as compared to Saints, Diabolous, ect.
If you can stretch the cash, definatly get Hozlfeller OCT...other wise, saints are affordable.
*I still swear by diabolous components though*

I can get the 06 hozlfellers w/ bb new for $130 are they worth the money? I am currently running Isis Hozlfellers and I am trying to shed some weight. I can't find the saints or the altus's for a decent price. I weigh about 165 w/ gear and higest drops are about 10' to tranny. I like the Diablous but seem like overkill. Also I have seen some guys running the Hone's but not sure if they will take the abuse

Yes, but they are 175mm too long for the sx. I need 170 or better yet 165mm

if you want to save weight OCTs are the absolute best choice. other wise hozlfellers will get you by just fine.

I say go for Saints, or XTs/Atlas. I like Holzefellers, but really wish they came in a 2 pc. You can feel the difference in stiffness between 2pc and 3pc IMO. I was happy with my last gen Holzefellers on my Demo, but will go with a 2 pc system for my next set of cranks because stiffness and only having to watch 1 side for loosening.
