So, I'm building up an 07 Yeti DJ as an all around fun bike, and I can't decide what to do with the chainguide/gearing setup. Do I stick with the Gamut front guide I already am getting, or should I change it to an e.13 DRS. I'm going to be racing 4X, dirt jumping, trail riding, freeriding and everything else I can do with a hardtail. What do you guys think? I'm getting the Deity cranks, so getting a dual ring will cost more as will a front derrailuer, but I don't want to be regretting anything later. Is a single ring really that much of a chore to deal with when compared to a dual ring setup? I have never had one before, all the things I have had previously have been double rings, but I don't use the dual ring a ton, so I thought I might try something new. What's the verdict?

Go e13 srs or sts with a 32 or 34tooth ring and call it a day. I rode a Drs for a season and never dropped a chain, however i found that you dont miss anything going to a single ring on a LOW ratio such as a 32 or 34, i run a 36 dhing on tight courses and a 38 on a open course. A srs will be much more simpler, less easy to break, and all around eaiser and more fun..
Good luck man

i second the 32T notion. that, a 34T cassette and maybe a SRS and you're set. that's what i've got on my trail/big DJ/4x bike and it's working fine. you can get up most trails just fine with a little under a 1-1 ratio and in most trail settings (where i live at least) you don't need more then a 32-12 max gear.

I love my STS guide on my Imperial, for a DJ/4x hardtail i dont think there is a better guide. Go for the 06+ version if you can

i'm actually going for a 34 or 32 tooth and a gamut guide. i can get a gamut for pretty cheap and i really like them, they're simple and light. i was going to go for an sts, but the gamut p20 seems interesting and has gotten tons of praise from magazines and friends alike.

Nothing is better than e13 no matter what review you read... Go LG1 if you dont trailride or run through rockgardens, SRS or sts for everything else.
e13 cannot be matched
