Okay so my lbs is hooking me up with a gnarly deal on either a trek session 77 or session 7. Looking at the parts spec theres some little differences like an x-0 derailleur on the 77, x-9 on the 7, king earl wheelset on the 77, big earl wheelset on the 7, and the cranks are different. The rear shock is the same, and everything else is the same also. The only major difference I can see is the Travis Single Intristic on the 77, and the Travis Single on the 7.

Does anyone have any personal experiance on these bikes ? And whats the difference between the Travis intristic and the Travis ? Is it worth the extra cash for the 77 ?

Thanks alot duders.

I'd say go for the 77. The intrisic damping is better than the standard one but both are alright. I think the intrisic lets you tune bottom out resistance better and other things.
Also, I believe that the Session 7 is meant for a single crown fork, but the 77 can handle a dual crown. One of my freinds wanted to put a 888 on his 7 but the bike shop said it would void his warantee.

intrinsic is so nice, i love it. the session is so sick, i rode it last season in keystone, CO, and it handled really well, the frame was just a little heavy for my needs. i'd buy that frame though, i really liked how it rode, super solid. i rode the 7, but the 77 would be much better, the king earl stuff is amazing, the stem has the internal clamp, the bars are super comfy, and the wheels are just...wowzers.

Difference is Intrinsic dampening versus TPC+. Basically, Intrinsic has better small bump sensitivity and bottom out resistance. It is like SPV (progressive) but only active at the last half of the stroke... fully open on the first part. I ran an Intrinsic last season and was quite impressed.

Just curious, being a fellow MDer where are you gonna ride a session around here? I used to have a SGS freeride team, and that thing was overkill for anything within 200 miles of B-more.

I have my personal trails, the lewis and clark trails, the shed, the watershed closest to me, mckeldin has a gnarly trail that I can shuttle kinda sorta, and eventually if they go through with it the new legal freeride park.

This summer as far as road trips go, snowshoe, wisp, whitetail (hopefully), diablo, and wintergreen are on my list. Are you in bel air ?

Yea im in Bel Air, I actually have 13 acres here, the county is doing sewer work right now on the property but when they are done they will be leaving me tons of dirt and my father and i are going to make the sickest jumps this side of the mississippi.

Wow we probably need to meet up and ride sometime then. Most of the people in md/va forum are all in virginia.
