I just moved down to this place, and I don't know where anything is. Any suggestions for a decent shop? I'm mainly into trail/FR/DH type of riding.
Thanks!

There is Velo Pro in SB. They have lots of DH/FR stuff.
I don't know any shops or trails in Oxnard, but I can show you the DH trails in SB.

The performance bike in Ventura isen't bad. That's about the only place here in VTA that has DH kinda stuff.

Yeah I live in the 'Nard too and get my stuff at Performance in Ventura (right off Johnson Drive) or if I'm downtown Ventura I'll stop in at Open Air Cycles.
Whatever you do don't go to the shop in Oxnard next to the Albertsons!!!

The SuperGo, I mean, Performance there is pretty decent. They have some guys there who are pretty into DH. Plus they have some pretty smoking deals on stuff.
All I can think about when I hear Oxnard is "wolfman's got nards!"
Monster Squad. Good stuff...

In one of the apartment complexes off Rose... the way overpriced ones that are making me broke.
Have you found the trails around yet or what?

That's pretty much everything in VC.

In Jim's favor though, it's a really, really nice apartment. Ginormous, and it has a garage.

Ah. I'm right down on Silver Strand Beach. I found a pretty decent 2 bedroom with a garage for pretty much the same I was looking to pay everywhere else in town. I haven't found any trails, but I haven't gone looking, either. I probably won't be riding much for about a month - I gotta get settled in, and I'm doing too much rock climbing.

You should be surfing.......not rock climbing if you live close enough to the beach :)
Supergo (performance bike) is really the only shop I've ever been to in that area. Truth be told they have less and less FR/DH stuff now then when Supergo was there, but if you need a part in a pinch OR something you've had your eye on from a email or mailer they send out it's great. I wish they still carried Specialized there......would be nice to get one on a closeout (last I was there they still had 2004 Demo 9's) trying to get rid of them!
Hope you like the Ventura stuff...........seems like there's more to do there city wise than Santa Barbara BUT we have the trails......lucky for you they aren't that far away :happydance:

Open Air off Main Street in Ventura (by the mall) is cool. Lots of cool guys there who ride BMX, fixie, and other fringe things. Not really "DH" but a cool shop.
There are some great guys at Performance and there are some real ignorant people. They've got crazy deals there but it's a Performance.
In SB there's Velo Pro (a pretty cool DH shop) and Hazard's. There are some AWESOME DH trails in SB. Definately worth the drive. A bit closer is Ojai, where there are some pretty cool trails too (more for XC/fr) and some that are possible to ride on DH bikes. Lemme know if you wanna ride Ojai, I'm local.

Well as said in another post there arn't any trails actually "in" Oxnard or Ventura, but they're not far either. A 20 minute drive in just about any direction will get you to some good xc trails. I've never ridden DH so I couldn't help you out there.
Good work getting a place to live for a good price, not easy around here.
