You know, it sucks that this happened, but christ it IS a war. I almost wish people would quit looking for some hidden meaning of "Why this happened" when in reality it was just an everyday **** up, the only difference being the guy who died was once in the NFL.
Granted, the pentagon may have wanted to ignore the friendly fire thing in order to set off some 'patriotic spin' but it's hardly a "cover-up" to me, and all this speculation about his own men somehow doing it on purpose is just sad. I would be very shocked if this wasnt an honest accident.

it was rummy's fault and he has been relieved of commandrather.
look for deaths-for-a-lie to start drastically decreasing, and the middle east & afghanistan to stabilize now that we're heading in a new direction.
so help me allah (piss be upon him).

And dividing your forces during low light/limited visibility is never a great idea. Whoever made that brilliant call needs to be beaten. Amateur hour mistake, 2nd Lts. know better than that.

Although I seriously considered it, am skilled with firearms, smoked the ASVFAB and spoke with recruiters in High School, I ultimately decided not to enlist for the same reason that I don't go rifle hunting for deer on public lands.

I give praise to Tillman for doing what he did. Anyone who has even known a Ranger or tried Ranger school knows, it aint easy.
It sucks that he died, he is one of many who have. What sucks more is the spin they tried to put on it.
The current admin tried to make him some sort of poster boy for the war effort and got burned. Pat Tillman joined for what he thought was the right reasons, it sucks that he paid for that mistake with his life.
<edit> His brother is now a very outspoken opposer to the war effort.
