Hey,

New to ride monkey, hailing from little ol New Zealand.

My work is sending me to Tampa, Fl for Four Months (Late Nov to Late March) and am contemplating bringing my XC bike (or buying one) to do some riding.

What is the riding like around Tampa (within 1-2 hours drive)? Are the trails rideable year round? Do the trails tend to be DH/FR/XC stlye? Are the parks/trails of a reasonable size (i.e. takes at least 3 hours to cover the park?)

Any advice that you can give would be much appreciated.

The trails in the area are rideable year round, in fact we are just getting into our prime riding season down here. I'm super familiar with the stuff right in Tampa, but just outside of Tampa to the east you have Alafia, the TOE, and Carter Road all within an hour and up north you have Santos (best in state) and Razorback within a 1.5 hour to 2 hour drive.

Why is it sick? Smooth flowing trails? Technical down hills? ...

You won't find much in the way of technical downhills in Florida (the highest mountain in the state is Space Mountain at Disney), but we have our fair share of flowing trails and technical singletrack.
