One of my friends were riding and his Fox rc shock came loose and spilled all of its oil. Now, trying to put it back together I was asked if I know of any instruction manual of how to change oil on it. Like descreibing the steps of what to do first, next and so on. My friend wants to fix it himself, but at the same time he is not sure about how to do it it right, so some kind of instruction would be nice.
Anyone ??
If no instruction, can someone explain the steps ? And by the way, which oil does a Fox rc uses from stock ?
Thanks

was it the blue compression knob that came loose???
thats what happened to mine and to fix it, i found the little ball that makes the clicking noise, put it back into position and screwed the knob back into its socket.
after that, i screwed i the two very small allen key sockets on either side of the reservoir where the knob is.
i dont know what kind of oil fox uses because in order to fix the shock up perfectly, you have to send it into fox or push. i also cant tell if the oil is pressurized in the body or not...
to refill it without sending it in, i went to a dirtbike shop, bought some low weight shock oil, went home and unscrewed the top of the shock, filled it up with oil and made sure that there wasnt any air bubbles, and put the top back on.
from then on until i f-ed up the nitro reservoir, it worked well enough but made squishing noises that were probably from air inside the shock...
good luck,

The shock body came loose. Simply unscrew. Yeah, same problem about the air. He filled it up with some kind of 10 watt MX oil, but it has become very noisy. I am not sure how the Fox works with the nitrogen.....when the oil is out does the pressure disappear ?

well the pressure in the nitro res. does not dissapear, but the oil pressure does.
the nitrogen pressure only disappears if youre as dumb as me and screw off the reservoir to satisfy your curiosity about if there was still pressure left... you curiosity will be satisfied with a very loud and scary ass bang.... as i learned.
personally, my advise if he doesnt like the RC enough is to go find a Romic for sale, theyre amazing and relatively cheaper than any other DH shock...
they sound and feel sluggish for the first few times you bounce on them, but take them out on a real ride and you will be thanking yourself.
trust me

PM Vitox, he can probably help.
in the nitro res. there is a floating piston, make sure u put it back at the position. if the oil came out and there was pressure in the nitro chamber for sure it has moved. i don t remember what height it should be. vitox might help.
