As opposed to Windows, which sucks even when it's working at it's best (which is rarely).
I don't know why I'm bothering, because this horse is dead, but I suppose I have another bit of user data to share. My new job has me primarily using Windows, and it's a relief to come home to my Mac. More crashes on my brand new work PC in the past 3 weeks than on my Mac in the past 3 months.....

That's BS and a myth. Macs are slighty more tolerant of sloppy house keeping, but not by much. Clean up your PCs and you won't have the problems.
I use a PC with basic practices of maintenance and I make sure my spyware and virus software is up to date. ZERO problems. ZERO? Yes, zero. I have to do something REALLY dumb to make it crash. (like try to overclock it from within the OS)
Macs on the other hand? I spend HOURS each month waiting for the Mac at our rehearsal studio to reboot and/or recover from errors. The software vs OS version vs hardware issues are ENDLESS.
If you're having probs w/ your machines at work, tell the co-workers to lay off the porn sites after hours, and run some spyware tools and update your virus defs.
Also, use this:
ccleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com/
Keep it clean and you shall be happy.

Not pentium processors, they ship with 4 button mice, mac mall is a reseller and is not apple and finally Chip architecture and hardware != software. Therefore, you have no idea what you are talking about.
I own about $15 000 in mac products. I'm pretty sure I know that they switched to x86 architecture a decent time ago. In fact I have the most recent, most powerful model sitting on a desk next to me. It has 2 woodcrest Xeons in it ... also not pentiums, FYI.
Seriously, if you want to spot off BS like Syadasti, at least learn as much about both systems as he knows, ok? Hell, learn as much as my mom knows.

You, just like say, Binary Visions, knows what the hell you are doing w/ your chosen OS, so you probably have few problems.
Macs, AND PCs suck total ASS if you're sloppy w/ them.

I didn't do **** to my last powermac for 2.5 years and it performed like a champ. I even urinated on it in a drunken stupor. In that same period, my brand new Dell was a N8 pile of ****. I have work to do, and I don't want to have to think for even .5 seconds about "cleaning it up".

You can be sloppy as hell with Os X. You will actually have to try to break it by playing around in bash. Most users can't even get into that part of the system or even know it exists.
I can break windows in .28 seconds.
This isn't a toy to me like it is to so many people. It is a tool. Just like i want to flip on my camera and have it work, i want to flip on my computer and have it work. I don't want to have to run ad aware, spybot, anti-virus applications, special web browsers and the like.
If i want to visit shady porn sites, I will. I wont have to worry about viruses, spyware and malware while doing it either.

better yet why the hell do they come with a mouse that doesnt have a right click button?
I'm not going to get into an argument about all that other stuff, but the software doesn't require a right click button, but if you want one all you have to do is buy a $12 USB non Apple mouse and your all set.
Oh, and they can use Windows as well as OSX because it lets you have all the fun of OSX, plus the videogame selection of Windows. I also do no maintenence to my MACs and they seem to run just fine, even my powerbook wich at the is bent about 3/8 of an inch accross the bottom. Never fall asleep on your notebook, it's a bad idea, it will get bent.

My mac pro (as well as every other mac) ships with a mighty mouse. It has right click, left click, scroll wheel button as well as side button.
So ya, saying they have 1 button mice is just people showing their ignorance.

Because no hacker wants to take valuable time out of his day to tackle your teeny-tiny market share ;)
I have had relatively few problems with Windows that weren't my fault. However, I dig the uniformity, downright cleanliness, and software that is available for Macs. Hence, I will likely buy an iMac once my current Windows machine falls out of favor with the computer gods.

That's a complete fallacy you know. What those hackers want is publicity. (not the spyware/malware tards). If someone managed to write a devastating mac virus, they would be headline of every single paper, website and forum there is. Why? Because many creative professionals world wide use macs as their daily machines...including the media.
The part about your own fault may be valid, but on my mac, i don't have to worry about cocking things up either. My fault or not, it just doesn't happen. Sure you can delete things or whatever, but screwing up the system would actually take a fair amount of work.

Holy Christ, I leave you guys alone for a few hours and there's another tirade about Macs vs. PCs? Don't you get sick of rehashing the same arguments with the same people who don't listen?
I seriously considered deleting syadasti's thread last night with no posts in it, just because it's only one more in the loooong line of his anti-Mac posts. I guess I should have.
You Mac guys are waaay out in left field if you think Windows is as bad as you claim. I've seen a thousand bad work installs by IT guys who don't know a damn thing about what they're doing, Mac AND PC. Poor IT help is poor IT help and has nothing to do with the OS. A guy at the last place I worked loved his Mac at home but hated his Mac at work.
Transcend, it cracks me up that someone as knowledgable as you doesn't believe that market share is the primary reason why Macs don't have as big a problem with spyware and viruses.
Maybe you guys can all pipe down for a couple minutes so BeerDemon can share his story :p

Forums are for discussion. You don't go to forums to post content everyone agrees with and has nothing to add to. Nobody would visit a forum like that. I currently OWN and SUPPORT both platforms. I've owned or own mp3 players from Apple and the competition. How many people in these threads can say the same?
Do you delete JM's post when he won't stop bagging on Rockshox? Do you censor Brian when spams about Hope brakes with little no to facts? Hell you don't even censor Stinkle when he post racial BS (http://www.ridemonkey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=166371) on political forum. Give me a break and learn the proper time to moderate :bonk:

Past 6 months at my new job
135 PCs (14 servers avg server age = 5 year old)
WinNT4-WinXP
OS Crashes = 0
Driver Crashes = 2 (both same issue, bad Intel IDE "accelerator" driver - hey macs use Intel now) :lighten:
Application Crashes = Rare
Low memory problems are more common but they have 128 MB - I just finished implementing upgrades yesterday to get them to an average of 384 MB.
Average user hardware here (probably about 4+ dozen of these SFF Dells):
Average PC age: 6 years old
PIII 450-500 MHz
128MB
Win2K
Almost all our hardware is refurbished to save money too. Man what a hassle, so many problems :happydance:
Current most problematic solution - BES server/devices. Common user problems - speakers turned down/off, network cable unplugged, keyboard/mouse unplugged. I've had to replace keyboards because they were broken or seriously dirty too, man! We had one Dell switch die too, I had to reseat and rebuild a drive in a RAID (automatic), and one brand new Core Duo notebook with bad NIC on delivery.
How about my home machine I just built:
30% Overclocked (1386 MHZ FSB), no voltage changes, stock cooling. Three straight days of various burn-in tests (SuperPi, Orthos, Gromacs, Intel TAT, etc...), no crashes or thermal throttling. Its been a month now, no crashing windows either. My system is of the silent PC variety too - fans are running at about 700 RPM too, my HDDs are noisier than my cooling fans.
If you been following the tech news lately Intel Macs have various issues with overheating this year (bad thermal paste application, bad factory prep (didn't remove plastic covering a vent)), fan mooing, thermal software issues, etc.) at STOCK speeds :D

Before you go off on a mini rant about what forums I should and should not be moderating, you might want to find out what forums I have moderator privileges in. Namely this one, tech talk, mechanics, and the classifieds. So I moderate those.
Frankly, I would have deleted many of Jm's posts during the period that he did nothing but bag on them. But I'm not a mod in the DH forum. Brian's comments are typically inane and he does not sit in threads and fight for hours at a time. The political forum is essentially a free-for-all, but I'm not a mod there, either. And that forum is pretty much self-regulated regardless.
Don't kid yourself: your constant harping on the topic of Macs is no more useful or interesting than those who have not supported or owned Mac products. You owning the products does not make your repetitive tirades any more interesting or useful. And when a forum like this gets little traffic and few interesting threads as it is, your destruction of the perfectly good ones or starting other argumentative threads like this one gets old. I will mod how and when I see fit, until such time as the powers that be tell me otherwise, and it gets more than a little tiring when you won't lay off of a subject like this. Out of the last 50 post you've posted in this forum, I count 7 that have not been directly ripping on Apple products. :banghead:

Owning and supporting a large base of both platforms since the early 80s makes my feedback more valid than some PC or Mac fanboys who use their small handful computers over the same time period. Small sample size = statistically invalid. Until someone has a large sample of computers they've used, comments have little real world meaning as to the average behavoir of each platform.
Tell me, which rule have I violated? Everything I have posted is factual. You are supposed to moderate when someone violates the rules not when you dislike a topic. Try following the guidelines instead of abusing your role...
