My SC Bullit is just a lazy steerer. I have a 65 deg. HA via a 66rcx2 and a frame mounted 8.75" rear shock. Will different width bars , a shorter stem quicken the steering or ? Thanx

Your head angle dictates how quick your steering is. A longer stem will give you more leverage in turning the fork and shorter will give you less but will seem like it will turn faster I would think.... Same differeance with the bars..... longer gives you more leverage..... but you have to turn the bars a further circular distance to move the fork the same angular distance than you would with narrower bars....

I think the answer to your question is if you want quicker steering you need a shorter fork.

Cheapest way to find out is to first try a sshorter stem..... How long is the one you have on there now?
If a shorter stem don't fix it then our only option I'm guessing is different forks.

Change your fork for sure. Got a friend with the same set up. Makes my GT IT-1 with a 40 feel like a little xc bike

isn't the bullit supposed to use a 8.5in shox? i had a fried use a 8.75 fork and nearly had a 15in bb.:bonk:

I am currently running an 80mm stem, bars are 27" wide. The rear shock mounting is the reason the bike is quite slack. I have an 01' Bullit and removed the shuttle to frame mount the shock. My BB height is a hair under 14.5". A stock Bullit w/ an 8.5" shuttled shock has a 15"+ BB height. I always thought a slack HA improved steep descent steering ? I rode my Heckler w/ a 67.5 deg. HA on the same steep terrain and found it was so much easier to maneuver.

steeper, quicker/ more responsive steering. also less forgiving. slacker is slower, but more forgiving/relaxed.

In my oppinion the slacker the HA you have the more stable at high speed. Pretty muc hit takes more force from a rock or whatever you hit to turn your fork some direction you dont want. But at slow speeds slacker just makes it harder so steer because you have to steer more to turn. Maybe if you wanted the best of both worlds you could run a steep HA combined with a steering dampener. I havn't seen anybody running them in a long time and I have never run one myself. Anyway just some random thoughts....

Do you have the '05 66 (7" right)? Those were reallly tall because the 888 lowers and the monsterous crown. I saw a 7" 05 on a V10 on here. The HA looked good...:D.

If you get a 2006 66, it will be much better. 65* seems so slack.

the RC2x is a 2006 model (shorter one), the shuttle-less setup is making his bike slack
