I'd guess close to a 32:12

Do the math. 44/16=2.75, so your gear ratio is 2.75:1. 32/2.75=11.63636363636, so your gearing is 32X12

Time to go back to math class kids :)
What you need to do is calculate Gear Inches. This takes into account wheel size. Ratios (like 2:1) are only good if you are calculating a gear for the same size wheels.
For a 44x16 on a 20" wheeled bike you are running a 51.4" gear. That's very close to a 2:1 geared SS using 26 inch wheels - which works out to 52 gear inches. So run a 32x16 or a 34x17 on the SS and you'll be real close to your BMX set up.
For a gear inch calculator and related explanations, check this page (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gears/). Make sure to select Gear Inches in the drop down box.

Haha, I didn't read a single letter past the gear ratio. Didn't realize we were talking 24" to 26".
