I'm looking for a new one now due to the snapping of the part where the seatstays join.

In the new bike I want:
-chromoly
-To be able do to anything (DH,street,DJ,XC)
-It will probably have a pike (95-140), so I want the HA to be kind of in the middle.
-6lbs. or less
-13" BB at most
-21-22" TT.

I'm looking at the Evil DOC right now. It might be a little slack, but I need to ride some other bikes to see how that would feel.

I just got a chameleon and I love it. I can't remember having this much fun on a bike since I was 15. I'm more of a light FR/ somewhat xc rider and I was able to build it up for my tastes.

I'm not sure what they will be retailing for... but I suspect it will be less than $500. I got a hook up from their now defunked Scrap or Scab (forget the name) sponsorship... the one for non-racers.

I'm VERY happy with it.

EDIT - It's geometery is almost the same as my Titan, which is my favorite bike. Personally for all around use, I'd get a titan again... but for big stuff; I like the through axel and 1.5 headtube.

I think they still have last years titans (like jdschall's) for about $200. Mine's a '04 that has seen a lot of abuse, and still going strong!

Peyto with a Pike Team. Gravity Dropper 4" post, Thomson stem, Easton bar. King HS, Juicy-5 brakes, King rear hub, Hope front. Race Face BB/cranks. SRAM drivetrain bits, M-545 pedals. Now has a WTB seat on, and a different bashguard than in these pics.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/scrublover/bike%20shots/Peyto2.jpg

My do it all ride. Long high country epics, local xc stuff, some light urban/jump stuff, it's even done a few days at Keystone. The GD post really makes it nice. Head angle with the Pike at 140mm is 69 degrees. 28# as shown here. I still ride this about 2/3 of the time, though the fully is getting ridden more and more.

http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f12/scrublover/bike%20shots/Peyto1.jpg

Last Tuesday, I tossed my spare fork (Z-150) with an 8" rotor on for a day at Keystone, with some DH tires front and rear. Slower than the guys on the big fully bikes, (and not hitting all the same lines) but it sure is damn fun and challenging to see just how fast/how much I can ride on this up there. The replacement rear shock for the fully should be here next Tuesday for next time up there.

this is how its goin' down UK! Its ya bwoy, representin' ma big-dog homie Orange Cycles. I got da Crush, its crazy bananas, and its gonna CRUSH you!!

(anyone who has heard of Tim Westwood will get the joke...)

anyways, in normal language - my 2005 Orange Crush, standard except gold Halo SpinDoctor front hub, Marzo' Z1 Light ETA, e.13 device+chainring, DMR grips, different pedals, and best of all - custom airhorn strapped to underside of toptube. good at getting pedestrians out of cycle lanes (or more like frightening the sh*t out of 'em so hopefully they'l never do it again), and it dont get in the way when im huckin'. looks alot cooler than a bell dont ya think? hope you like it...

I know this is a little bit old, but do you mind me asking what you ended up paying for everything on this bike. I am new to piecing together a bike instead of buying a pre-built bike and am just trying to get a feel for how much a good all around bike would cost me. I want something that I can take on the streets and screw around with, but also have no problems taking it into the hills when I want to. From the reviews the Titan seems to be pretty good for this.

Frame was a blem frame - $100 ('06 frames are on sale now for $150)
Fork was about $250
Wheels $200
I had the rest of the parts sitting aorund from another bike, so I just switched around the parts... which is what I ususally do (see custom title).

You should be able to build up a bike similar for about $800 - $1000

Thanks for the information. I'm kind of curious though as to what kind of components you have on there. Mainly just the bigger ones like the fork, brakes, shifters, and wheels to give me an idea of prices. I don't have any parts laying around so I'll be starting fresh. I have a 2003 Specialized Hardrock, but it is the base model with fairly crappy components, and I'm wanting to get into a nicer bike sometime in the near future.

Drivetrane is Sram, except the front der. is a Shimano LX. I think the rear der. is a x9. But I've stuck with sram cassetes and chain fro awhile now.
Brakes are Shimano XT 4 pots (ebay @$120)
Wheels are Azonic outlaws - you can get them for between $200 and $250.

I've always just ridden what I had - then as I break stuff I replace it with nicer parts (if I have the $$$).

You know you really should just sell me yours ;) Just playing around of course. Thanks for the help. I think I am going to slowly try to collect parts as I go through this semester and attempt to build the bike over my christmas break. It should be a good learning experience.

Another question that I came up with is what size frame are you riding, and about how tall are you so I can kind of gauge the size frame that I will need?

this is my DNA (small) i use for DJ'ing primarily. i have ridden street and FR with it as well. the pike i am running is the Air/u-turn model where it is adjustable from 145-110mm. in terms of FR, i am not talking 3 foot curb drops, i am talking ligit 10 to 12 foot drops. i talked to Frank (FTW) and he said the bike was perfectally capable of doing such things (just no DC forks or bender stuff). for a while i also ran a fox 36 RC2 on there and it was a blast (for dj and FR). i love this bike and recommend it to you as would many other people. if you are more into FR, then look into something more like a Ridge, .243, or something a little beefy'r. good luck!

sick bike man! hows it workin for ya?

I spent more than I planned, but it's a quick and tough street bike that's great for beating around downtown Phoenix and rolling to and from the bar.

Thanks again for the frame BD!
