That is indeed a very stupid question ! I think you have to specify your question in order to avoid further flaming.

my vote is high rollers, i think you can buy a set and nothing else and have a decent tire for all conditions/terrain.
your best bet is multiple tires for multiple conditions, as no tire is the best.

After riding Michelins for the past 2 weeks, I have to say Kenda Nevegals are the best. Anybody want 2 near new 2.5 Michi 24's?

Tässä juuri haen vaihtoehtoa Nokian renkaille..Itsellä on Gazzaloddit, ja niistä ei oikein löydy pitoa. Kannattais varmaan kokeilla jotain pehmeänpää kumia.

I don't even use tires anymore. I just tape my tubes to the rim.

I will post pictures and video later tonight that prove riding on the rims is the best way to go.

Just rims; Ingenious! Damnit I didn't even think of that. I can lose even more rotational weight.

I think it is difficult to find one tire that works on everything. Here in Finland I use NBX 2.3's and they hook up well on the singletracks (esim. Espoon keskuspuisto), wet or dry.
I was just at Mammoth bike park in California and ran the same NBX tires for a couple days. For loose and rocky stuff they were a bit narrow but still gripped OK. It would have been more appropriate to have a wider 50A compound nobby.
However, I did most downhill stuff on Continental Diesel 2.5s. I think they are 60A but they are so damn fat, they just work on the loose stuff. In wet conditions here in Finland these tires do not work at all.... but they do roll nicely on asphalt, are only 950g, and UST. Probably next season these get replaced with some Gazzaloddi G's.

Just rode Diablo on Nokian NBX 2.5's. It was pretty dry up there and they still didn't wash-out in corners. Not sure what the tread compound is, but I was skid'n'm down some of the big rock faces and there's virtually no tire wear. This was my first ride on them but I'm impressed so far.

Nah man they're cool. I use pieces of tire as shin pads. Logo's out! So they don't mind, they still get their logo out their as I fly down the mountain.
