hey Todd, just a quick question, if I'm not mistaken isn't this the same shop that Specialized uses? If so why are both ironhorse and specialized choosing them to do the paint to keep the frame under warranty?
What's special about this paint shop/facility? just curious....

It has to do with the way in which they paint the frames. If they let any body shop do it who knows how they'd do the paint stripping. Walnut blasting is probably the best way (or a mild chemical) but if you sandblast it can pit the frame makign it weaker.

well there are some other high end paint/powder shops.. as well; spectrum powder works comes to mind.... I was more curious why multiple companies were choosing this facility vs. others.... that's all... I understand the need to have the work done properly.

Probably because they're careful about masking your headtube/bb/seat tube/etc off, bead blast the frame (sandblasting takes off far too much material), and generally understand how it needs to be done on a high-end bike frame.
(no this is not based on experience, merely speculation based on a guy over here who does a lot of frame repainting)
