View Full Version : Red Hook Late Harvest Autum Ale!!
I picked up a six pack of this new Red Hook Late Harvest Autumn Ale and I give it two Monkey Thumbs Up.
I think it would also get the IAB seal of approval.
I think I'm gonna finish this one off and have another. :thumb:

That just looks tasty. Isn't it a little early for late autumn harvest right now though?
Is it kind of spiced up like some of the winter seasonals, or what is it about it?
I'm not good at describing it, but it tastes great. It isn't spiced up. But has a good rich taste to it.
If you haven't tried it, get some Red Hook IPA...

Just had some Red Hook IPA and it was quite tasty! I will have to locate some more brews and give them a taste as well. :thumb:

Is that the wet hopped beer? Using hops straight off the vine?
I don't know.........there isn't much info on the label about the brewing process. I guess they just let the taste speak for itself.
Damn good!
I've been pounding the Red Hook Blondes lately. Too soon for Harvest brews imo but I'll have to throw one back in a month or two. Looks like it'll require a visit to the Red Hook brewery to see about getting it on nitro or cask.

I had the Red Hook Late Harvest Autumn Ale last night because I wanted to try something different to contribute to my beer bottle collection -- which now stands at 1459 different beers from foreign, micro-, and/or craft breweries (no Budweiser, Busch, Coors, Miller, etc.)
It is difficult to uderstand how the Red Hook Brewery came up with the name for this new beer on the market, considering that it is currently mid to late summer, not autumn, and there hasn't been a late harvest of anything yet. I don't see how it could be a wet (or fresh) hop beer becuase the hops don't get harvested until mid to late September.
Despite some of the previously expressed opinions, I didn't taste anything particularly noteworthy about this beer. It tasted OK, but nothing to write home about (although I am writing this).

His first post is about beer. I'd approve if I could.

that's what i think it is; just read an article on 'wet-hopped' beer in the WSJ yesterday...i was thrown off by the 'late harvest' tag and figured it was some sort of oktoberfest, which are generally too malty for my tastes.

I'm pretty sure SN does a Harvest Ale that is wet hopped, but I'm not up to speed on my hop harvesting seasons. I'd love to try it though.
