My brother is buying a new Mac laptop for school. (He needs a Mac for compatability with school comps, otherwise he'd be getting a PC.) Unfortunately, they bend you over when it comes time to upgrade the RAM. If he were to upgrade the RAM himself, would it void the Apple extended warranty? Or should he just suck it up and let them have their way with him?

When I worked for Apple, it would not void the warranty. Although they may have changed since then.
You should be able to view the terms of the agreement on their website.

Sweet, thanks. Unfortunately, the comp I'm on right now doesn't have a PDF viewer, and I' don't feel like downloading one on dial-up. I'll check it out when I get back home.

I'd get it on a laptop (that said, I didn't get one on my G4 laptop). I probably won't get it on my new desktop when they get announced and start to ship. :D
