It's my buddy's birthday this weekend, and we're looking for a lake-side place to camp over saturday night, have a fire, chill, etc. Half of us are comming from white rock BC, the other half from seattle area, and we're looking for a spot around bellingham. Any thoughts?

You can camp on the bay down at Larabee on Chuckanut Drive. You might have a tough time finding legal camping around Padden, Whatcom or Samish....I know there's parks on those lakes but I think they're just day use parks.
This (http://www.memberservicecenter.org/irmweb/wc.dll/wabelcvb?id=wabelcvb&doc=rol/rol1/clistings&kn=3) should help.

Larabee's ok if you want to stay awake with the passing trains all night, but if you're going to be drinking, you probably won't mind. I suggest Birch Bay campground.

If you don't mind driving a couple hours, take the ferry from Vancouver to Gibsons Landing. Nearly every camping option there is near the water, and it's a lot of fun. Otherwise, there's Laribee or Birch Bay, but not much else that's legal or easy to get to.
