i like mine, but i just blew all the internals on it. manitou did warrenty it, but just the same, i've been without a big bike for a while. change the oil every 4 months(don't worry it takes 5 miniutes.) and your good.

So far I like mine. It got a whole lot better when I put the right spring into it. My travel adjust is not working, but I think I f*ed it up when swapping springs. Nothing is actually broken, just something came disconnected. I misread the directions and have not bothered to fix it yet. Wasn't using it anyway, really.

what spring did u have to put in it. i have the stock spring in mine and it feels ok, also running 50lbs of air in the spv chamber.

I weigh about 200, I like drops, and I'm coming off a rigid bike, so I wanted it to be fairly stiff. I went with an X-Firm and I really like it. I'm running it with about 40psi and the volume adjuster almost all the way out. (maybe 1 turn in) So far, so good.
I found the stock meduim spring to be pretty wallowy for me. The bike just did not want to hold a line the way I wanted it to.

what are you riding know? i am on a trek session7. i need a stiffer rear spring but they are on backorder from manitou. it's rideable and doesn't feel to bad, but i wouldn't go doing any big drops just yet. not like do anyways.

I'm on a Sinister Splinter MX, but the build kit is straight off the 2005 Session 77 except for the post (Thomson), clamp & stem (SIC).
As I recall, springs from some other companies will work on the Swinger (even if I don't remember which ones).
I have not tried to devolve the fork, which I may do at some time in the future. For now I am quite happy with it. I find the SPV to be a nice intermediary step between rigid and the full on plushness a lot of other riders seem to like. I can't say that I notice any of the "stickiness" that seems to bug people about this fork. It soaks up the big stuff rather than taking the feel of the trail away from me, and I like that. It does not give you the same sensation of riding on a marshmallow that a DH specific fork can, but it ain't a DH specific fork. Seems to me that a lot of people who fling "Manipoo" around are expecting this fork to be something that it isn't. It is a freeride fork, which means you should be able to feel the trail underneath you, but still be able to send it off bigger hits.
Of course, I'm not saying that Manitou has a great reliability record (pretty hit and miss, actually -at least their customer service seems to be OK), but not as bad a fork as the naysayers would have you believe. I say enjoy it, ride the crap out of it, maintain it, and move on if it breaks. That's my plan, anyway.
