the rear rim is a salsa gordo (36 spoke) with a disk hub on it, the front needs to be replaced anyway so it will be the same rim with a disk hub.........so if i have to buy a shock with out rim brake supports then i will go disk...........

Not terribly useful advice considering your question, but its still worth considering: If your bike came with an RST, and you have $600 for a new fork you might want to consider doubling what you've got and just grabbing a new bike all together.

Yeah, assuming you're still in the market for a new bike within 6 months or so, I would get something pretty cheap just to hold you over, and sell your old bike with. For your size I'd look for a used Marzocchi DJ3 or something similar.

i was thinking about getting a new bike when i hit 230# but that is 50# away so i was going to try to make this bike somewhat "bomb proof" till the weight drops cause i might just stick with this bike frame, it fits me well.........but thanks for the DJ fork idea i didnt think about looking in that direction:D
