Im really liking the Ironhorse 7.7 FR bike. What are your opinions on it? I do mostly hardcore trails and some climbs.

Mine has been quite good to me so far.

It should be just about perfect for what you do.

I do a lot of xc also so is it really hard to climb? I also do some DH stuff. I was looking at the 7.5 also b/c i really like the boxxer fork.

The Boxxer Ride is just a dual crown Pike...I'd avoid it, not that awesome. The 66RC2X will kick it to the curb for what the 7P7 is built for.

My friend just got his in today...it's a sweet bike. Riding it feels weird...almost no pedal feedback at all.

Looked extensively @ this bike. Cool technology.
An opinion: too many moving parts/pivots= maintenance more to break over time...
I chose something simpler instead.
Regardless thing put out a one of a kind ride. Sure it is one of the best available.
Definitely a single crown rig.
Also take a look @ BlitzII, Bottlerocket, Chapparal ---> good alternatives IMO

How about this one (~35lbs?):

I have been riding my 7.7 now for about a month and am really diggin it! Local FR trails, jumps drops and a trip to whistler and it performs really well. It is a lot lighter than my DH bike and pedals like a mofo! The 66 is soooo light, admitedly I am still getting used to the feeling of a total air fork, after riding the big Marzochi forks for the last few years.

To the guy who thinks there are too many moving parts, it is similar in links to the VPP and I have not heard too many dissents on those frames.

The 06 bottom link was redesigned from 05 model, I would go 06 personally. I am sure they did not make changes for the worse on this bike, especially at a price of around 4 grand! Plus if you have issues IH will take care of you.

Check into the Bend Bike Rodeo Freeride Comp August 12th, BEND ORE see details at : www.ragefilms.com/bikerodeo

yea thats a really good point, the 06 linakage is better than on my 05. i just like the specs on the 05 more, plus there 1K cheaper. you can get them through performance for about 3K.

ever ridden one? they are pretty much the same as a boxxer team except with less travel, u-turn, and no preload adjustment. i have a friend who runs one on his dh bike and its a great fork.

Dude the ride's are glorious. Plus u don't really have to break them in like the 66's. A lot lower too, easier to manuver

The 7P7 doesn't come with an air fork, the 66RC2X is coil with air assist. It is very light out of the box though, I'm guessing 37 lbs.

Gnu, yeah, I've ridden one, and it felt like a big Pike (I've ridden a Team as well-felt MUCH better than the Ride). The damping isn't great, and it just did not ride as well as a 66. In addition to the fact that a DC fork is going to limit what this bike excels at, being tight and twisty technical stuff. The 66 will be exponentially better for a Seven Point.

My impression is many VPP systems require much greater than average maintainence.
